I purchased the speedy 30 damier ebene in july 2015 ever since i only used it once and stored it in the dustbag. Today i took the bag out and the hardware has gone rusty peeling off on the lock and one the handbag studs on by the handle. I wanted to know how much would louis vuitton charge instore to replace the speedy 30 studs by handle and for a lock?.
Thank you

Rivets are usually free, lock is about $40 (I am in Japan so exchange rates vary) but I pay like 3900 Yen for new locks :) they will polish up nice with Brass polish using a Qtip, be super careful not to get the cleaner on the leather :)

1991 Speedy with lock and Key, just needed a simple clean up...almost mint condition!

2001 Epi Blue Speedy 25, the handles had been ripped off, took it to the After Sales service and got new rivets, tabs and a new lock and key! gorgeous!!!!!

You shouldn't worry about repairs. You should take the bag to LV and DEMAND an exchange. This shouldn't not have happened. I have much older bags, which I don't use like my Alma PM DE stored in the dustbag in my closet and I took it out, no peeling or rust or anything. It is like new. Don't go there asking for repair because they will definitely charge you. You should ask for a new bag since you bought it that recently. Have your receipt in hand and I am sure they are going to do it for you. When I bought my Neverfull MM because I have read of the cracking issues I asked my SA and he said if anything like that happened I should take the bag to them and they would give me a new bag. When I took my Emilie wallet after three years of daily use to them because the slots had turned upwards, they gave me a new one on the spot. So go in there, I know it depends on the SA but ask for the manager if needed and they should give you a new bag.

Thanks to the folks who posted good results with Simple Green to clean sticky vuittonite lining. Before I began scraping off the sticky lining I reinforced the fabric lining where it attached to the canvas because it was fraying. I used fray check both before and after removing the sticky from the lining. I also used LMB to improve the canvas and leather, and brasso to shine up the zipper and pull. I think this cosmetic pouch from Japan turned out really well.

Nice job! I've used this method on a couple of my LV items as well and I've always gotten good results.

Looks great[emoji106]

I wanted to share my preloaded Alma rescue.
[emoji10][emoji6]WARNING lengthy post!

I have always loved the Alma profile, but never added one to my collection. I opted to shop for a mono PM on eBay as I am a sucker for anything vintage and/or needing a little tlc.

I had two must haves guiding my browsing.
1. Canvas - no missing, cracking, peeling, ect.
2. Vachetta - nothing torn or worn through

After countless hours browsing I came across a potential candidate. Her canvas was in good shape, patina not overly dark, had corner scuffs on vachetta but not rubbed through and some staining on bottom. Her interior was "iffy". There was a huge white stain and assorted water or oil marks. The seller assured me there was no odor. I figured worse case scenario if I could not remove the interior stains, I would use an interior organizer to hide them.

I got her home and was very pleased. Was happy report no odor in the interior, canvas and vachetta also as represented in photos. I gathered up my tools and started to clean. Unscented baby wipes, ME, Brasso, Cadillac Boot & Shoe Care, assorted soft cloths, cotton swabs, nail brush, and dawn dish soap.

I was beyond thrilled that wiping the interior with a baby wipe removed a majority of the white mark. It appeared to be dried toothpaste! As I cleaned it away it gave off a minty smell. Gross [emoji12][emoji12]I know but very happy it was going to depart without a fight! I continued to clean the interior with a few drops of Dawn diluted in a very small amount of warm water. Dipping my nail brush into that mixture and gently scrubbing in circular motions. It did cause suds on the lining, so I gently wiped it away with a damp cloth. After allowing ample dry time, I repeated the process over the water/oil marks.

Next stop ME on vachetta bottom. Cut ME into small chunks and slightly dampened. Worked over water marks and black, sticky dried gum. Again gross[emoji12] but gone! Dry and repeat, dry and repeat. Moved to vachetta sides. Gently cleaned with ME to blend corner rubs and lighten stains. Handles and chaps last. Polished all hardware while vachetta dried.

Applied 2 coats of Cadillac Boot & Shoe care to vachetta with a soft cloth. I allow 10 minutes drying time in between. Applied a small amount on canvas too! Buffed all surfaces to a shine with a clean soft cloth.

Here she is[emoji3] befores on left, after a on right.

Overall thoughts....
The ME and Cadillac Boot & Shoe care treatments evened the tones of the vachetta considerably. I would not say they lightened it. I love the silky feel and sheen that Cadillac Boot & Shoe care gives. It's never heavy or sticky.

I would pre-treat interior stains with stain spot treatment or Tide stick before applying the Dawn treatment with the nail brush. I believe this would help them release without wetting down the lining again on later attempts to remove them.

I will work more on polishing padlock once I obtain a key to remove it. There were spots I could not get to with it locked in place.

My total investment was $160usd[emoji7]
Oh Wow! That looks Great!! :woohoo:

Hi Guys,
i want to buy a Speedy 30 vintage made in the 1990, because i want to rescue her. The seller said it doesn't have cracks, but she sent me this picture and I can almost swear I can see two cracks in the canvas by the zipper. Am I crazy or you can see it too? Thanks in advance for your help.

I definitely see two cracks near the zipper. One cuts across the flower petal and another is just to the right of it. Were these the cracks you saw as well?

To be honest, this small crack does look really minor. And depends on the price of the bag! I have a vintage Speedy and just looked at mine, and have what looks exactly the same in the same place too (never noticed until now!) It may only be a crack in the surface coating that's bonded to the canvas. Which mine is, so it's not right through. But I have another small crack that is right through in the main body of the bag, and I am going to repair it myself with "Stormsure Adhesive". If done very very carefully (using a pin or needle to apply it very precisely) it will close up the crack and prevent things getting worse. It's a canvas repair glue, waterproof, flexible etc. I've used it before with great results, but not on my Speedy - yet!

Seller Notes: Interior has wear (scuffs) common of Vintage Gucci predominantly around upper parts of interior. All is soft and in tact and ready for wear and looks good in comparison to most on market.
