Congrats! U did so well. May I ask how long u soak (dunk) her? I've never heard of nail brush....do u mind showing pic of the brush?

Do u noticed any color faded? And did u do any color touch up as well? TIA [emoji4]

Thank you! :smile1:
I dunked her for about ten minutes to make sure she was wet all the way through since she needed reshaping. She was too big for the sink I usually use, so I used my white tub. There was no color running or fading at all. I didn't touch up anything; she was in near perfect condition except for the crushing at the top.

Here's a pic of what I mean by nail brush:

Here's my story: After searching for a Graffiti Speedy for two years, I was unable to find one in my price range in the condition I desired. So I looked into vachetta replacement and decided that was the way to revitalize a well loved bag. After finding him on eBay, I dropped him off at my boutique. Three weeks later, he was back and stunning. Here are the before and after pics.

Hopefully this Graffiti Speedy's story can inspire others to breath some life back into a forgotten LV.

If you dont mind my asking... how much was the service ( ballpark #) this is a wonderful idea.

With the arrival of the clochette and lock today, I finished the rehab on my '05 mocha epi Alma pm that I got from a Japanese seller on ebay. I used the famous Coach technique of dunking, scrubbing with a nail brush and mild dish detergent (the pockets at the ends of the zippers were disgustingly filthy), and stuffing with towels to dry. I added my own touch of using thin sheets of cardboard to prevent lumps. She came out a lot straighter across the top. I think she's ready to go out in public now.

Fantastic job! Congrats on your beautiful epi Alma. :)

Hi all! Haven't been around in years. I was wondering though... I know that to replace the vachetta is 2/3 of the bag. I just bought a Vintage Saumur 45 (which is in great condition) I was wondering how I would know what retail was since the bag has been discontinued? Thanks any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi guys. Just a general question. I purchased a pre loved danube monogram lv bag. I wonder if there is such a bag model since I searched the lv site and the only available model that resemble the bag is the amazone.

Based on date code, it was made on 2001.

Hope you could answer me. Thanks fellow. Xx

After patting her as dry as I can with the towel, I set her by the window so she can dry from the sunshine and breeze. Quick photos of her inside out (again).

I'm happy to report the smell is gone from the canvas and the interior!! Because she is an OM pochette, I didn't have to worry about an interior pocket. And since she's 8 this year, her vachetta tab dried without waterspots.

Hurray for LV canvas! :yahoo:

Thanks for sharing this! Awesome job--I almost died at the washing part but how beautiful she is!!!

BEFORE: I found a 25 year old Speedy 40, MIF 1990 (love the older bags), and will post the before pics first, and then after. The first pic is the Seller's pic of the bag. She has become my favorite bag to carry and the canvas feels thicker. Very happy with the results!!!

AFTER: After pic of the handles, zipper, lock/key and zipper pull....! The hardware is so much better, and the inside of the bag was very clean and no damage. Very happy with this rescue project!
