I recently bought this beautiful black GM epi noe. It's 20 years old and tgere is not a mark on her! I've cleaned and moisturized the lesther and cleaned and used brasso on the hardware. Will the hardware ever get nice and shiny? I'm just wondering if I should keep working on it or if it's as good as it gets. It is brass. Not gold like the newer hardware.

Hi. So I found a speedy cube at a consignment shop in my home town, which I don't live in anymore (owner posted photos on FB to advertise). I didn't get a chance to make sure the bag was perfect before purchasing it because I don't live in the town anymore. I had the owner take what I thought were sufficient pics to show the condition of the bag; however, when sent to me, I noticed that the piping was torn and coming through all four ends and the gold hardware was detached from the bag. Needless to say, I was very upset but sucked it up and took it to LV for the repair. After LV sent it off they quoted $630 to replace all the piping and lining of the bag (which they said they had to replace the lining in order to do the piping) and attach the gold handles back to the bag. Well LV took so long with the repairs because they were waiting on the ordered the parts, that they comped the repair work and I was able to get my bag fixed without having to pay for it. So I was ecstatic! I only paid $750 for a speedy cube 30 and it is now in perfect condition now.:D
Awesome

Can I buy a monogram speedy 30 "shell" in good condition and replace the vachetta/piping?
Any rules per LV?
What do you mean by shell? Do you mean buy a bag with ugly/worn vachetta and pay to get it all replaced? There are no rules from LV, as long as the bag is authentic and the canvas is not damaged. Although I have heard of them not repairing very old bags. (And they don't repair French Co bags either.)

If you look earlier in the thread, the cost to replace everything is about $630+ so it would not be wise to do this unless the bag had sentimental value. You can buy a speedy 30 in nice condition for $650-$750. HTH!

If the canvas is in good condition then LV will replace the vachetta and you have a new bag! Vachetta cost will run $650.00 to $700.00 but the Alma is a $1400.00 bag and the pouchette is $470.

Information given in this thread must have been old as I rescued an Alma this week and just left the LV store close to tears. Vachetta replacement cost $1100.00 and a new Alma is $1410.00 so I am going to return my $300.00 rescue 😡
Mad face/sad face....

has anyone had their small 6 ring key holder rescued? I was thinking of having the piping fixed on a pre loved one, but since it's such a small item I thought maybe it would be better to just buy a new one outright if the cost of fixing the item is too much?

I rescued a vintage bag and plan to have the vachetta replaced and have worked like crazy to clean the original brass but it is still not shiny. Should I have it replaced and compromise the integrity of the vintage bag or keep it? It's going to LV next week so all responses welcome!
