Hello, I would like to know how you achieved such an even result, because when I tried some areas became lighter than others.

Thank you! Actually I was surprised how it turned out. I can’t think of anything particular I did other than just ensure I was very gentle and evenly rubbing with the magic eraser. In fact, the first section I did, I must have rubbed too hard because a bit of the leather went almost white, like I’d scratched it. But then when I used conditioner afterwards, it evened out again.

Looks perfect fit!where did you find the strap?

Lots of strap options on Etsy! This strap was from NanaStore2018 on Etsy and I love how the color almost perfectly matches the well-honeyed vachetta.

Also got the D-rings there but they don’t fit great….they kind of scratch against the handle rings. I’m going to keep looking for D-rings that fit better.

I've had this Babylon for 19 years and just couldn't leave it sitting in my closet anymore. I've given the vachetta a few coats of black leather paint as well as a sealer. Very happy with the result I'm not a big fan if the vachetta so will consider doing this to other bags as well.

I forgot to take a before shot but found one that I took a while back.

This is the results so far. I got lazy and decided to stop. It’s just one week in. I didn’t want to clean it too much since it’s vintage. The rips and cracks have been fully repaired but I need to needle more edge kote on the fill it in.
*the matching strap is from Etsy!
-no, the canvas was not stiff, after the armor all bath, it became soft again.

Amazing! What did you use to repair the cracks in the leather and in the canvas?

I found this complete with the pouch. The interior was a sticky, nasty mess and made a mess, of course, but cleaned her all up and peeked off the rubbery coating inside. Can you believe she is from March 1998?!? I don’t know of was used more than once or twice…the vachetta is perfect! Crack on the leather is almost an impossible fix. I usually add a leather balm (doesn’t matter if it has wax). If it’s really dry, this process will moisturize it but as for cracks filling in, it never happened for me. I bond the cracks on canvas together with super strong gorilla glue and use fiebengs edge coat in dark drown to fill in the visible cracks. I recommend using a toothpick to do this so you can build on it. Good luck!❤️❤️❤️
