Hello everyone, I am new to the PF and was wondering if anyone has ever had a speedy from the 80's repaired? I want to have both end tabs, handles and chapes replaced but the bag has some damage/rubbing on the base corners. It doesnt bother me but do you all think LV will do the repairs? Anyone with a similar situation? Thanks!

Ladies and Gents,
I am considering buying a preloved MC Trouville in white and I have found quite a few that are in pretty good shape, the canvas doesnt have any chipping or anything like that but the handles are dark and the gold hardware has some wear. Has anyone here restored an MC bag?? Any thoughts on cost. Buying preloved would be a tangent for me as I usually buy new but I am considering taking this on as a project. I would probably buy the bag and take it to LV but I am debating if its even worth it.

Hi All, just to add that I called LV right now to quote on a full replacement of the vachetta on my Cabas Piano. I was informed it would cost 2/3 the current retail price of the bag, so 800$ (current retail is $1200).
Considering I bought bag 8 years ago for $750 this seems pretty steep to me, but I'm considering it due to the fact it has sentimental value as my first LV.

Last week i purchased a 20 year old Noe. The bag was really dirty, but not smelly (phieuww) and so cheap that I couldn't resist it! After some hours of cleaning with baby wipes and magic eraser it looks really nice and fresh!
It only needs a new drawstring, does anyone know how much they cost (probably not much, but I am just curious).
I'm going to post the pictures as soon as I found out how it works :)

I've seen pics of TPF members use a scarf instead of the drawstring. It looks goregous that way.

Shannon72781- replacing vachetta is certainly an investment, but the payoff can be well worth it, especially with sentimental items. You will be extending the life of your bag exponentially.

I've heard that if there are any cracks or tears in the canvas, LV will not replace the vachetta. Has anyone experienced this personally? And feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

did they replace the gold brass as well?

Here's my story: After searching for a Graffiti Speedy for two years, I was unable to find one in my price range in the condition I desired. So I looked into vachetta replacement and decided that was the way to revitalize a well loved bag. After finding him on eBay, I dropped him off at my boutique. Three weeks later, he was back and stunning. Here are the before and after pics.

Hopefully this Graffiti Speedy's story can inspire others to breath some life back into a forgotten LV.
