Is there a french way to pronouce Ribera? Or just simply Ri-ber-ra?

I am part French and live in a French community. Ribera requires more "skill" because you need to roll your HARD R's (eg. italian and spanish have SOFT Rs but French has HARD ones which require you to vibrate the back of your tongue/mouth) So....

RRRRReee-bay-rrrra (accent/emphasis on 1st and 3rd syllables)

As for le noe et le damier, c'est:

NO-AY (emphasis on 2nd syllable), puis, Dam-eee-ay (emphasis on last syllable)

Hope this helps! 'a la prochaine mes amis!

:shame: Alright, don't laugh but how do you pronounce:

- Batignolles
- Papillon
- Petit Noe (I'm guessing "petite no"?)
- Pochette ("Poach-ette"?)

Born and raised in CA, I don't know why my pronunciation is so terrible! Thanks everyone. :flowers:

thanks! i just want to make sure that i say it right especially if i own the bag! sometimes the LV SA don't even pronouce the names right and the last thing i want is to think that they are right, and follow suit. :)

I can't pronounce Louis Vuitton correctly How embarassing.
I say Louis (Like Louie. im sure that parts right) and heres what gets me. Vuh-ton (like tron. just without the r. if that makes sence)

and a french girl told me to pronounce it like Vwe-tah

:(

batignolles = buttinyoll (yeah first syl sounds like butt... and second a common "in" )

papillon = puppeeyo(n) (first two syllables do sound like puppy), the n is in brackets because it's a nasal sound, not a real n but still there...

the noe lacks the ´on the e, so that makes it noé -> you gotta pronounce the e, besides the last t in petit is not prononced, and the "e" in petit is a sound that doesn't really exist in the english language I think, it's a mix between o and e -> "poe-tee no-eh"

pochette = poshett, kinda like posh and at, but stressing the at

best thing would be to consult a dictionary for they have the most accurate phonetic symbols

I was told this was the correct way to pronounce it also.

I guess I wasn't alone in some confusion. I've noticed the SA at the store says Louis Vuitton the way some have just posted. I try to copy her without sounding too affected.

I surely wish I took French instead of Spanish in school. There are so many French words in literature and, of course, fashion.

Thanks to all of you for the education!

there's an interview in French with Patrick Louis Vuitton on the official LV Site, "The World of Louis Vuitton" then go to Special Orders and then Patrick Louis Vuitton, he says "Louis Vuitton" in the first or second sentence, the very best source for pronouncing the brand name correctly ;)
