HERE IS THE CORRECT PRONUNCIATION For "Hermes", "Givenchy", and "Louis Vuitton":
Hermes: Air'-mayz ........(but when you say "Air", act like just before you say the r, you are almost saying an "L", by pushing your tongue to the upper palate. It should sound like a a cross between and "R" and an "L" The emphasis in this word is on the first syllable.
Givenchy: Zhee-VAHN'-zhee ........(the "zh" sound is just like the sound (ʒɑ
in the name Zsa Zsa Gabor...she is Hungarian, and Givenchy is French, but the French pronounce the "G" the same as the Hungarians do the "Z" and "Zs" combination. There is a main emphasis on the second syllable of the word, a secondary emphasis on the first syllable, and a taper-off on the final syllable. It ends up sounding almost melodic, this way.
Louis Vuitton: Lou-ee' Vwi-toan' ........(the emphasis in "Louis" is on the second syllable, and the last syllable of "Vuitton" is actually not a hard "N", but you are, again, pushing your tongue up against your upper back palate as you say it. Think, like if you say "tong", but at the last minute cut the "G" off quickly. It would be "toang" with that same quick, sharp cut-off at the "G".
And if you want to maintain some dignity, please, for the love of God, don't say Lou-is, like the Americanized name, e.g. "St. Louis". I have a neighbor who speaks to me about my LV bag all the time, and although I am always subtly pronouncing it correctly, she pronounces it "LouiS voo-tON" like "futon" lol and I cannot understand how she does not pick up on the fact I am saying it correctly (and she is not), when I say it with the French accent. I am no snob, and don't really care how people say it if they don't know better, but as much as she wants to talk about my Manhattan GM, I would think she would realize I'm trying to help her out a little bit!

This is a stupid question but: how do you pronounce patina?? :shame:
I allways thought it was PAH-tina and the "tina" part pronounced like "tin"
But now ive heard someone call it pa-TINA as in Tina Turner..

Not the best at writting out phonetics, but here goes ...

where the @ is because the a is pronounced like the beginning part of @ (without the t part)
Azure --> @ - zurr
Actually the da sound is pronounce dah (short ah sound), and ah-zyurr the same way. There is a link somewhere in this thread where you can hear it.
