Haha, by hrai, I meant rye but with a rolling h in front. Maybe better written:

caw-hrye-l

There is definitely a very short l at the end though.

Great, thanks so much... what I was thinking at first was that you meant there was a definite syllable "el" at the end and who knows, they go SO fast on those online pronunciation audios and I didn't hear it on those.. lol. Got it now! Thanks again.

hermes: hair- méss (french r is very noticeable, stress on mess)

Sorry yellowcat, but your pronunciation of Hermès is incorrect. With the accent acute, you'll be pronouncing it as: Hair-Mayss.

But it is an accent grave and an H proceeds the e so it will also be silent.

The correct pronunciation is most simply put: Air-Mez.

That's also how all the Hermès representatives have pronounced it (except in Hong Kong...)

Hey..so I am a bit lazy and really haven't posted here in a while. Though I was searching on YouTube and I found this really helpful link. Hopefully it can help all of those who are like me and are ignorant in the way to pronounce the true names of them. Though mind you, it is a computer who is saying it, though feel free to take it to Google Translator and try them out yourself. Or even a French person.

I speak french and its Lou-oui ( like the french oui) Veeton ( stretch the o a bit)

I cant spell the tone for you in english to make it sound right but its not tawn which sounds like an A but more like O but nasal end where the N shouldnt be too much pronounced but just a little.

Bandoulière = band-ool-yair pronounce band like you say James Bond
The r Will be pronounced because it comes a vocal (e) after. If the r had been the last letter like in damier, you don't pronounce the r

Hermès- air - mes
In this particular case the s Will be pronounced even if it is the last letter without a vocal coming after ( in french you usually don't pronounce last letters if these letters are nonvocals like e, r , s etc) Normally something spelt Hermes should be pronounced "AIRM" but this is where the È comes in with the thing on top, hermès has this è which generates in a s that you can hear

*make mental note* when i have kids, must teach them to correct french pronounciations of louis vuitton bags, and different canvas and different bag names... fun times ahead, i can see it already LOL

With all my respect idol is wrong

In french idylle is pronounced Ee- deell

E = like in see

French Y is pronounced like (east/eat/see)
French I can be pronounced in different ways but in this case like The english letter e

So the i and y in the word idylle is pronounced the same ( if not beeing picky) and remember that final e idyll(e) is not said out loud if nothing comes after. French words which stops with an e is silent
