I say "loo-ee vee-tawn". That's how they say it at my boutique, and it's just stuck. That's what I've taught my daughter to say.

This one is really tough to write phonetically. Try the link above to hear the word pronounced correctly by a french speaker. Its great!![]()
thank goodness for taking four years of french, none of it went down le toilette! practiced my french by correctly pronouncing louis vuitton handbags :]
LOL! I did the same thing, but for some reason as I was listening to the playback on the video, why aren't "bastille" and "melville" similar sounding in the way they end? I always thought that they should end the same... In the audio, Bastille = "bass-tee" but Melvillle = "mel-vil"... Am I wrong?![]()
The audio is correct, they are pronounced differently. In French, the "ille" is pronounced differently depending on the letter that comes before. It's my mother tongue, but I can't explain why it's like that, it's normal for me I guess
French is a difficult language to learn! Even in Belgium, where we speak both Dutch and French, the Dutch speaking people have a very hard time learning and speaking French correctly.
someone once posted on here the website they used for french pronunciation, and i have always used it since!
