OH-SOME!! hehehe.

It's really really good for me.
I know the name of the items but it's sounds like french... in Japan,
but at here US.....I have to say in English so I always say the spell to my SAs.
I said, "BU LO NYU" for Boulogne. My SA asked me, "which one?"
It's usual thing.

THANKS!

I know there have been other posts about how to pronounce some of the LV bag names, but I haven't seen this addressed.

I was at an LV boutique earlier this week, and I asked something about vachetta, which is how I think I have usually seen it written here. I said it "va-shett-a." The SA corrected me (in a nice way - she basically repeated the word with a different pronunciation). She said it "vachette" ("va-shet"). She said it a couple of times. Is that right? I felt like sort of an idiot, and now I can't seem to find it written anywhere "official." How do you really say it?

Hi =)
I'm french, so I can actually help you about the pronounciation of the word "vachette".
Actually, if you really want to pronounce "vachette" with the french way, just pronounce it like your SA.

Probably depends on the language. I don't see it being "va-shet" in Spanish or Italian (more likely "va-shet-a" or "va-ket-a"). Japanese: VA-KET-TA. Va-ket-a actually SOUNDS like it's derived from 'cow.' Interesting question...never thought about it, really.

va-shet-tuh isn't correct, I was recently corrected @ LV as well.
I think she pronounced it more like vuh-shey or something. . . can't remember! Just know that pronouncing it phonetically isn't right.

Thank you for your reply! That makes sense if that is how you spell it. If I had seen it written that way, that's how I would have guessed to pronounce it. I don't pretend to speak French by any means, but I have a little idea of the pronunciation (took French diction for singing).

I guess what it comes down to more than pronunciation is how is it actually spelled? I usually see it written here as vachetta. Is it really vachette? Thanks everyone!

Une Vache is french for "A Cow" So, Vachette in french is Cowhide Leather. Now, the american translation IS "Vachetta" which some people pronouce "Va-ket-ta" but the most correct way is "Va-shet-ta." Now, if some girl is pronouncing it as "Va-shay" then she's just crazy. I'm an English major and I'm minoring in French so I always am looking up words, their derivatives, and family groupings.
