Y'know how dooney and burke bags have vachetta too, well they are on QVC and I was watching the dooney and burke representative and she pronounced it Va-ketta so I would guess since she is their sales rep she would be right? :shrugs:

I have never had a problem with pronouncing the LV names, and I never really thought anybody would. Then I just remembered that they teach you basic French in elementary schools in Canada, and I guess I just plum forgot that. I guess I'm grateful now even if I didn't enjoy it before :)

I saw that on QVC too. I thought it was pronounced va-shetta, but then I heard the D&B rep prounounce it the other way. Now, I am not sure. Neither M-W.com nor Dictionary.com have info on it.

It would make sense to say "va-ketta" if it were Italian, but since it's presumably French, "vah-shetta" seems to make more sense. Till this thread I just assumed it was vuh-shetta, but if the SA's are calling it "vache" for short, then I'm guessing "vah-shetta" is the way to go. I do think it's rude for an employee to correct customers, however.
