Guys…. Everyone’s worst Jade nightmare happened to me today. I was slipping off Ivy, my 49 mm bangle, and it slipped from my fingers with quite a bit of force onto my wood floor. I was sitting on the couch, so thankfully I wasn’t so high up. But I’m so nervous. I inspected every inch of my bangle. I’m thankful I took a picture of all sides of my bangle in the sun, so I could see all the hairlines from before. I don’t see any new ones after the drop, I can’t see or feel any scratches or new nicks. I checked the edges and there are no chips. Everything seems fine, but I’m still so paranoid. I worry I damaged it in a way I can’t see. I took it off and put on my phoenix and dragon bangle. I probably won’t wear my 49 mm bangle in a while. Has anyone else dropped their Jade bangle on the floor? Was is ok in the end?

Is anyone familiar with the Taiwan lab called Cathay Gem Consultants? Are they reputable like GIA, I could find much info on them online.
I don't have any familiarity... are they providing a certificate for free or fee? As long as your seller has a good return policy, you can always get it tested again from GIA or Mason-kay just to verify.
Jadeite croc and seaglass mermaid today
Uli, the color and tranlucence on that croc is like water, I love how it partnered with the mermaid.
Wearing my one and only jadeite pendant today. Her name is Lulu. She looks like a mythical sea creature but she's probably a dragon.
Lulu is so pretty! The carving looks very well done.
Hi Everyone, Love seeing all your beautiful jade pieces! I'm a jade fan too especially any level of lavender. Sharing my recent purchase from Gump's of SF.
That cabochon glows! Gorgeous ring!
I posted last week about two bangles that I was deciding between but ended up going with my gut and getting something completely different. I couldn’t stop thinking about the glow and translucency.

So, this is actually a push present and my husband thinks I should hold off wearing it until we get closer to the due date. But I’m thinking why wait when it’s jade and meant for good luck/protection? What do you all think? Silly superstition or yes since the purchase is meant to celebrate baby, it should be for later?

Here are some pics of the beauty.
It might be a good idea to wait until after, not for supersition, but practical. I had an epidural when I gave birth and I retained so much water afterward. My fingers, wrists, and ankles got so fat it was uncomfortable to wear any jewelry. I wasn't into jade then, but I'd imagine I wouldn't have been able to take a well fitted bangle off then.

The bangle you decided on is sooo pretty though! I get why you want to wear it now. If it is easy on/off now, I would definitely recommend taking it off before you go to the hospital. Maybe you could get matching adjustable jade bracelets for you and baby. Like these or these or these.

Yikes! Glad to hear that it seemed to be okay. Wood is way more forgiving than tile. I've definitely dropped my bangles before and it is for sure a heart-dropping moment. So far, I've been lucky, too.

I think wooden floors are much softer than tiles. It should okay. Sometimes I whack my bangle against the door frame or the basin and my heart stops for that moment... I do the same thing as you and inspect for damage but nothing, not even a scratch. Not only is jade beautiful, it is super durable... thanks to the wonders of mother nature. Love that stuff.

The best is to always put on / take off a jade bangle when sitting on your bed, with a folded blanket underneath. I always sit facing the centre of the bed. Then if the bangle flies out of your fingers, it will land on the folded blanket and not even bounce

Loving this thread so much! Quite new to jade and the posts & photos here are wonderful.

Please allow me to share a couple pictures of my own. Thank you

Wonderful! Please keep sharing your photos ladies. I enjoy seeing seeing your lovely pieces. It's something to look forward to. Haha morning routine is to review this thread whilst drinking my coffee in the mornings :)

Here are my jade pieces. I also have a little gourd pendant that I received as a teen stored away with my other jewelry. I need take it out.. it has not been worn nor seen light for 20 years! That one actually turned colour when I wore it. It went from a light green to a bright green. Took about a year or so. I'll eventually take it out of storage to show you guys.

The two pictured are my next test for colour change. I wear these every day. So far they appear more shiny and the pendant may look slightly darker (the side that touches the skin). I will continue to report my findings :)

All my jade were gifts, so I'm very excited that I finally got to choose the next pieces. Still waiting for the two bangles.. one is arriving mid this week.IMG_20230227_101140_HDR.jpg

It arrived sooner than anticipated. It's quite different from jadeite, it has a slightly matt finish and feels silky against the skin. The inner diametre is 53mm and I managed to shove it onto my wrist without soap and water. Makes me think I could possibly go a bit smaller. The other hinged bangle I'm still waiting for is 55mm but thinner in width and thickness. Do you ladies only buy 'your correct size' or do you make an exception if you like it too much?

Wow! This is so great looking! I love carved bangles. Can you share the seller?

For a carved bangles, I totally make exceptions in sizing, though for plain bangles I tend to stay in my "correct size" range. When I'm not so overweight that's a 50-53mm depending on if it is a D or princess and how thick or wide. My carved bangles are sometimes smaller than I can actually wear and sometimes larger than is practical.

Sure! I bought it on Poshmark from the seller 'hattersteaparty'. She isn't a jade dealer though, selling mainly clothes. It was my first time purchasing from that platform... Reminded me of a combination of Instagram and eBay meshed into one.

I'm not too fussy about sizing as long as it doesn't fall off my wrist or cause pain whilst sliding it over my hands. I would probably go between 52-55mm give or take.

I thought it was appropriate to name her 'Olive' for the colour and she also has an olive shaped thing in her mouth

She looks more lustrous this morning after being oiled and worn all day yesterday.
