Yay! I'm so glad you agree with me Claire! That's all I needed! I'm going ahead with it. ;)

Crosso, I hearya' about the ice and snow. Although it's unseasonably warm here at the moment, it's still definately not spring and it can't come soon enough! Sorry to hear of your booboo.

Crosso, sorry you've slipped! Ugh, I hate this cold too! Thankfully you're not more badly hurt!

Molly, I too would want to put it on a chain. Just think the gold would show off the jade more...and, the beads could be added to chain too through a wire link which goes through a bead, and at the end of the bead, it would hook into a link on the chain... Hope that makes sense! If you would wear it more then I say go for it.

Claire, thanks, but I'm not sure what you mean about the beads. Do you mean as an add-on to the end clasp? :thinkin:

Molly, no, it's a way of incorporating them with chain In a fixed spot...I ll have to find an exams...

Molly, I completely agree, I think the gold will dress it up appropriately and set off the jade beautifully! I think Claire means the beads could be connected like this - although these do not have a length of chain between the beads, the connector wire is looped on either end and could be linked to a chain.
(This on the way from jade peony - a belated V-day gift, as I could not decide what I wanted. Then jadepeony took about a week to actually ship it. Will post other pics when it arrives)

Oh I see, thanks Crosso and Claire! Lovely green pendant, Crosso! Great color!!!

Crosso, I have been drooling for months over the black faceted bangle that seller has on the etsy site! You can imagine my surprise when I opened the package that my sister sent for me from her trip to Hawaii when I found a black faceted bangle looking like that one! She knows my taste! She bought it in a market and was told it was jade. My specific gravity test tells me otherwise tho, coming in at 2.41. I don't care tho since I love the look of it, not to mention her thoughtfulness. I'll show a pic of it later. I think it's either obsidian or black onyx.:smile1:

Molly, how sweet of your wonderful sister!! I bet it is onyx, which is dyed chalcedony agate, of the quartz family. It's a soothing, healing family of stones, and I can't wait to see it!

I've been researching oil green jade, because I am curious about what makes the colors so 'heavy'. I've discovered a huge range in prices from inexpensive to VERY expensive. . No luck finding out more about how the color forms though. I am truly in love with some kinds of oil green/blue jade!

Molly, gorgeous! Regarding 'oil blue/green', Deep Ocean is an oil type bangle. When I get home, I'll post some pics to show the range of look. It has a very heavy pigment which is part of what defines oil jade as I understand.

ok here are some oil blue and green examples! As you can see, there is a big range of tone, and saturation, yet there is a kind of color look that they all have in common. I find this fascinating! I've heard that the 'oil' colors were the least desirable in Asia, but maybe that's changing now, they way it has with black jade, which was also not favored or considered desirable for a long time. Some of the oil bangles I found were tens of thousands...and I see why. There is a unique look to this kind of colorant pigment which creates a different effect.
