Hi there, I'll be going to Singapore in April and really need some advice on buying a jade bangle. Definitely wanting to go somewhere reputable but what should I expect in terms of price range in Singapore dollars and are there any tips on how to gauge the quality? Thank you so much in advance!
Hi, was uncontactable for a whole day while I tried to solve the stupid issue with my phone. Well, it's dead. RIP. I'm using my dad's spare blackberry as a backup while I try and solve the issue :( The wonders and curses of technology.

Anyway, back to the topic. In Singapore we have a couple of places that you can go to for Jade. The trustworthy ones are Li Hong (Chinatown area) and Peach Blossom Gallery (Orchard area) or the goldsmith shops like poh heng. However, prices are steep! (thousands)

At Far east plaza there is also a shop called mudan which is supposedly trustworthy but a bit pricey http://www.mudanjewellery.com/

At Joo Chiat there is also Singapore designer Choo Yi Lin who does unique pieces of jewelry. I've been eyeing some pieces cause she adds precious stones to jade for a more modern look. You can even customize! But also a bit pricey.

(hundreds-thousands)

My colleague suggested I go to Fu Lu Shou Complex (bugis area) cause she got her lavender jade bangle there for 200 but I have to warn you that 1) some shops might be cheats (trustworthiness=???) 2) it's full of Buddhist and religious paraphernalia (in case you mind :D) !

They also sell jade at the bigger Isetan stores and Takashimaya. But I can't guarantee the authenticity though I've bought a piece here and there.

Alternatively, you can just walk around Chinatown like germanshepard said but remember not to pay too much if you aren't sure about the authenticity!
(please don't pay more than a few hundreds here!)

Here's a sample of the stuff i got from peach blossom gallery:

Just asking around has anyone had any experience with "jadebracelet" on Ebay? Also is this a D or princess shape, I can't tell ><

hi ravagedingo  i have bought a bangle from that seller, and i was happy with it. but it seems like he sells both treated and untreated jade. so u might want to ask questions abt that if u buy from him. ;) btw, the bangle u posted is a princess shape :smile1:

Oooo. Lookie. I found a jewellery shop called arizma at parkway parade with lots of jade stuff. I sneakily took a pic but didn't manage to capture the other glass panel. I'll sneak back another day.

Fanof, you are right about the battery thing. With my old phone, I did that and it started working again, although not that well, but it did work.

Thank you for the comps on Sonoma! I'm feel like I'm just now starting to get to know her.
