how have you treated your chanel bags since the ridic price increases?

I’ve found out that since my handbags are now worth so much (compared to when I got them-some just a few short years back and some over 10 years ago) that I can’t seem to enjoy them anymore. I realized that I’m even more careful when I wear them out.. like they should be in glass cases where they’re protected.

I also feel silly walking around town meeting friends, doing errands with an ultra expensive handbag.

Wondering if others have felt the same way.

I understand. I felt the same way. Mostly during the height of the pandemic.

Now I'm more at ease with my collection because I realize life is finite. Our time here is limited. If I don't carry my handbags in my 40s, how long do I have to wait? Then what's the point? The more I use my bags, the more they belong to me.....

Of course I don't carry my Hermes birkins when shopping at COSTCO. But a Starbucks run with my Chanel is perfectly fine.

I can't say I feel the same way. Maybe I've been using Chanels for so long, it doesn't phase me anymore. I'm just glad I got my bags early enough to the collection I have. I wish I had bought more instead of buying other designers that I'm not as into anymore and they also don't hold retail value like Chanel.

I don’t feel like I need to baby my purses more bc of the prices, but I find myself going without a purse for safety reasons. (Not wanting to get robbed.)

Honestly I’m the exact opposite
I used to baby everything and hardly wear my bags. What would happen is my tastes would change or lifestyle and I started to not like some bags I once loved (many without ever wearing them!!)

Now I wear everything because I feel it’s such a waste to buy things and not use them. Life is short and unpredictable so we should enjoy wearing these expensive things!

Each time I think I want to use my bag I change my mind because I'm afraid it'll affect its resale value.
But then I don't think I'll ever sell it because I won't be able to buy it back.

I understand the feeling but I still wear my bags in appropriate settings as they bring me joy. I don’t judge or question my friends or strangers’ indulgence (cars,wines , experiences) either.

I totally understand what you mean. Now that medium classic flap is over 10,000 I’m afraid to take it out. I am also nervous about getting robbed.

Wear your bags! I wear my bags, fancy shoes and jewelry. If it sits in a closet or a room, what’s the point? Things should be enjoyed.

What's the purpose of owning a designer handbag, jewelry, clothing and leaving it in a closet to just look at?
People have gotten robbed for less just being in the wrong place and time.
I purchase these items to use and enjoy. I refuse to live my life in fear over materialistic items.

Perhaps to each his own. I was in the same boat a few years ago. Who cares right? I worked hard. I want it. I’ll wear it. But now that they’re in the 5 figures?! Where would I need to go to be wearing a $10,000 handbag on the regular? I just think there is a big difference between 10k and I don’t know.. a 5-6k handbag.

I am in the opposite position. After all those crazy increased, I am appreciating my collection more and more. And surprisingly I use it more now. Not to show off but I just want to enjoy my hard earned money. They are just too beautiful to just sitting on the closets and I don’t think selling them will make me happy even it can bring lots of money. My collections are all classic (med flap, mini flap, 2 boys, reissue, woc, coco handle, c19), it doesn’t make sense if I regret later on and need to repurchase with that crazy price.
