Ladies, thanks for all your sweet compliments and likes on my new blues. You've all encouraged me to think very hard indeed before I give up on Robe du Soir!

Of course, here's the hang tag! I should have posted it in my original message. Do let me know how you get on with it.... :flowers:

Ladybaga, thanks for your kind and encouraging comments! Honestly I've been puzzled myself as to why I find the pale back so noticeable when, as you rightly note, the front is pale (especially in one corner) as well. All I can guess is that my eye is drawn to the contrast between the shiny front side and the matte back side. I'd almost prefer the reverse to be stark white than to have the ghost of the pattern without it fully coming through; somehow that would look more deliberate and seamless to me than this middle-ground saturation level. But what I'd REALLY love is for the back to be almost indistinguishable from the front, like it is on this ELenK, which I'm putting in here just to give an illustration for any new collectors dropping in who might be puzzled over what I'm fretting over with the gorgeous Robe scarf.

I totally see what you mean. (I still love it on you, though....)

Beautiful and I love how it’s paired with Ms. BE... on an aside note, I just realized who u r on IG! Omg we have been friends there and never did I realize and connect who you were on TPF[emoji28]

Haha, yes, it's me. I wish I have more time to make my fair share of contribution to TPF. I have learned so much about H from everyone here. By the way, hearty congrats to your BE baby, it's so stunning. You will have to take pictures of this baby as many as you can and share with us.

Hi guys,

Newbie here! Sorry if this isn't the correct forum, but I'm looking to purchase my first Hermes scarf and was hoping for some suggestions. I know the possibilities are endless and I do have other luxury scarves but I'd love to own an Hermes. I've been eyeing the Le Grand Prix du Faubourg in blanc/noir - https://www.hermes.com/us/en/product/le-grand-prix-du-faubourg-scarf-90-H003166Sv16/

I wear A LOT of black and white/some neutrals, white gold jewelry. I feel compelled to choose a vibrant scarf with color to break out of my comfort zone, but I'm loving that simplicity of the black and white.

Any suggestions or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated! :)

My inner marketing persona decided this is the booklet of what they WANT to sell you - simple stuff - LOWER PRICE point items, fewer screens - 4 pages devoted to ties (as in business suit ties for women), lots of losanges, Jaguar made it barely . The cover is Jeu des Omnibus remix - 5 colors in a finesse rendition
All in all they have decided to downplay the best stuff
Again no one has to agree with me

I don't have this booklet yet, but I agree with you. I am very disappointed with this new coloring concept H did for this season. Same color family crosses the board and touched almost every single design.

Really, what they are doing is to wash out the best asset and characters I love about their silks, which have had me hooked up for almost 20 years. Now the designs repeat same color families over and over and I find it's very boring. No doubt the reason is to reduce cost, but if H continues to go down this path, sooner or later, they will lose their competitive advantages. Having said that, I am thankful as my wallet is taking a break from 2018 SS season. I found myself going back to the last two seasons snatching up a couple of cashmere shawls.

Welcome to the orange side! I tried the blanc/noir CW the other day. I found it was overly plain, not showcasing the design well enough.

If you want something neutral and warm, I'd recommend the CW with orange sky. The orange sky may seem to be bright at the first glance, but when the scarf is folded, it only shows very limited orange, unless you do a cowboy knot to have the orange corner in front.

If you want something neutral and cold, I'd recommend the CW (with blue sky) I bought and posted a couple of pages earlier.

Welcome to the orange slope! I think this colorway is very elegant and very versatile, so you will definitely get mileage out of it....unless you are like me, I tend to get bored. Instead of going straight b/w, why don't you go for a design that isn't exactly wild but has some color to it? What immediately comes to mind is the Faubourg (since I know you like that design) in the blue colorway or Robe de Soie in blue/grays. This will give you a bit of color without being too overwhelming (unless of course you don't like blue).

Photos of both have been posted recently, but here they are laid flat. If you search the next few pages you will see how they look worn - each goes with all your wg and neutrals and are fairly simple and elegant but does still have some color.

This is incredibly helpful. I also tend to get bored, which is why I'm hesitant to go with the black & white. I'm a creature of habit and need something versatile with a pop of color. The Faubourg in the blue but now I'm really loving that Robe de Soir in the blue/gray. I don't see it on the website though, so I'm guessing I'll have to call a store in NYC to see if they have it. Now I want them ALL! :-|
Thanks for your help!! :)
