Haha you're my twin! My Chanel's are not only black, but so black too! I have the so black chevron reissue, the so black classic flap from pre-fall this year, and a so black boy too! Hence the extra thought processing towards making this non-black Gabrielle part of the family..
We are indeed, it is just that my re-issue is quilted one, but otherwise, we seem to have the same taste. We understand each other

I bought my Gabrielle Medium in black last Thursday as it was the first day of the new collection in my city. I am happy to have found a secure and easy to carry bag. I love it! I went back to the store yesterday and got another Gabrielle, the same bag I bought Thursday though this time in Large to take to work. I really love the functionality of these bags.
Yesterday while at the store, the SA brought out an extra-large Gabrielle. I told the SA that this extra-large size was not on the website. She said it was a new size. I tried it on and it was enormous.... I figured if full I would not be able to physically carry it. I am 5'4. Anyways, I settled for the Large and I am really happy I did.

I was never into the Gabrielle when it was first launched but now have myself on a list for the iridescent light purple Gabrielle which should be arriving soon at my boutique! So excited!!
The zipper and crossbody function of the Gabrielle seemingly would make it a good travel bag?? Yes?
But with the base being prone to scratches and dents? No??
Would the Gabrielle be a good travel bag and if yes, would the black on black Gabrielle be a better option than the iridescent light purple??

I am waiting for right timing to get my black Gabrielle large. I tried on the iridescent purple in large and in this combo it seems quite large in comparison to the black. My SA said it's because the iridescent purple is in lambskin so it stands up better (not so crumple as the calfskin has the distressed leather) so with its shape just looks bigger. I think the iridescent will be best in the small and medium. Good luck deciding. The rainbow hardware is amazing.
I live in Denmark and there is no chanel boutique here so I'm reaching out to Hamburg and Berlin......it hasn't really been restocked since March......[emoji20]

I have used my iridescent medium hobo for a little over 2 weeks and so far I do have 3 scratches on the lambskin although I have been careful with the bag. The scratches did not buff out completely, but were faded by buffing lightly with clean fingers. In certain lighting you can see the scratches, but mostly it is concealed by the ever-changing iridescent purple color of the lambskin. Surprisingly, the base has done fine and only has a very tiny dent that was mostly buffed out. Overall the bag still looks great, but it is delicate. I just want to let people know my experience so far. My first week went so well with no blemishes, but wear and tear will come rather quickly with daily use. Still absolutely love my bag though.
I also tried new extra-large size and found it too big as well. I am considering for the next Gabrielle bag (in white) if I should pick medium or large. It would be nice if you could share your experience, since you have both sizes and let us know what your opinion is.
I stayed in Asia/Singapore. We only have 2 boutiques here and the stocks were very limited for all designs. I thought Europe would have more stocks available but I guess I was wrong. Do post some photos to share with us when you get yours soon!~
So close to pulling the trigger on this bag. I'm stalking it everywhere, but concerned about wear and tear. There's a beige one on Fashionphile right now and the bottom is HORRIBLE. It's scuffed up so bad that now I'm not sure if I want to spend the money. Granted I'm careful with my bags, but it would drive me nuts if that happened. Ugh...not sure what to do. Love the look of this bag.
I thought I might be nuts, but I did the same thing too!! The Gabrielle hits a lot of buttons for me in terms of functionality, cross body wearability, security with zipper, etc. Saks was having a triple points event but only had the large size, so I had to get that for work days and days when I need to carry more, and my boutique had the medium so I decided to go for that to wear for travel, sightseeing, weekends, etc. I'm thinking why do I need two more black bags? But it makes sense to me right now. I would not want to go larger or smaller than these two sizes. The small and mini seem like they would be difficult to access due to the opening and I gotta say that the large gets heavy when I put all my stuff in it. Perhaps the elongated shape just makes it seem heavier than other bags I have. I don't think I could go for the XL. Enjoy your new bags!!

I think big cities in Europe have better stock such as Paris (of course) and London. However, there is also only one Chanel boutique in Hamburg and Berlin so it's quite difficult to get hold of popular style especially if we are not local customers

ditto this. perhaps someone can chime in on the opening too. i have noticed that although it has a top zipper it has a Lady Dior type of opening and it looks like the center of the zipper section gets deformed pretty fast, like stretched too far apart on either side - i guess that happens in an attempt to reach into the bag, making me think the compartment opening isn't really wide enough. i'm on a list for one, but have been second-guessing as well...
I just took a look at the Fashionphile listing you mentioned and I'm astounded at how bad it looks. I can't believe they are trying to sell it at that price! On the other hand I have been following Chanel pretty closely and I don't remember ever seeing that color combo this year. Not to cast doubt on Fashionphile, but is that bag authentic? It will be a real bummer if these bags take a beating like that and the future market for the Gabrielle will be zero.
I don't buy my bags to re-sell... although I have sold a few... I normally pass my things to my sister and nieces. I bought my Gabrielles because they feel right for me at this time in my life. I have not come across a bag that is so easy as this one. I adore its security... its bells and whistles and foremost its understatement....
I would start with a Medium. It is such an easy bag for outings. The Large one I bought for work or when I need to carry more.
