Hi Everyone,
Has anyone had experience of the durability of Grainy Calf leather that some of the current bags on Mulberry.com are made of ? Many Thanks x.
Hi,

Grainy calf leather is one of the more resilient finishes, it doesn't mark easily and looks fabulous. It will wear well and doesn't require babying....

Thank you very much Mooshooshoo for the info although I'm very careful with my bags I wouldn't want one that I would have to baby .Stunning Primrose I'm looking at the shoulder bays in the lovely Aubergine colour just need to see what it will go with in my wardrobe, very tempted!

Washed nappa

Butter soft with a lovely drape but scratches SO badly and stains are impossible to remove. Personally, I'd never buy another washed nappa bag :nogood:

Soft nappa

Very soft but very robust. Naturally resistant to scratches & rain.

(This is just my opinion - if anyone has the care cards to hand, please update!)
Thank you for the tutorial great info

I was considering buying croc print or silky snake print but SA told me they are both very delicate materials. She said croc print and SS are not printed on the leather but rather carved into it, so scales will get lifted off with use. Anyone bought AW 2012 croc print bays or silky snake? How has it been holding up so far? I'm fairly new to mulberry so any thoughts much appreciated.
P.s I did a research on it but didn't find full review on the print with regards to usage. Thanks everyone for their input!

I bought an ink silky snake lily from the outlet back in October time. One of the prettiest bags I've owned. Sadly, used a couple of times, scales already started to lift, despite using the collonil gel..... Sent to mulberry and now she's in bag heaven. I will still admire on others but I'm unlikely to ever buy a bag with this sort or leather again. I can't be done with the stressing/worrying.

Sorry about your bag hun :( that's what SA was speaking about, (Scales get lifted off). I bought a croc del rey during Boxing Day and it's been holding off fine even with daily abuse to work/shopping then again I only been using it daily from Dec to now :). Let's see if anyone else can chime in about croc print. Thanks again for your input.

Mulberry has made a variety of croc and snake bags, some of which are printed and others which are as the SA told you hand carved. The carved leathers can suffer from lift and the only way to treat this is as Lulu suggests, with collonil gel, which helps prevent the leather from drying out.
I have the Del-Rey and medium Cecily in snake, both over a year old. There are a couple of scales on the Del-rey, but otherwise no problem.

Thanks for your input Mooshooshoo, I have similar DR with title lock and it's holding up fine. What I'm specifically after is croc print this time and found out it was released from AW2012 or 2013. I found a pic on the Internet and if anyone has this bag please share your thoughts if it's really bad idea to get it kind of for daily use. ImageUploadedByPurseForum1389946391.829129.jpg

Oh Moo, I love your black one, a perfect bag for me to carry and abuse (I'm assuming that's the older version). I'm going to have to choose a another bay for daily abuse ( I have chocolate and raspberry pink but they are little too boring on me). You def put light on the croc print, I may grab one soon. Thanks a lot for your input!!!

It's a choccy Zaraha, though perhaps not so obvious in the pic. I've used this as my work bag for quite some time, and as Elvis says....no slouching. Neither of these bags are stuffed in the photographs.

I have an Oak Silky Snake Mulberry Trout, and yes it had a couple Od scales lifting up but no big deal.

I think I am the only one who sees it because I get complimentary and nice comments.

I used to baby the bag and paranoid but now I just give it it's due care, collonil gel, and off I go and just enjoy it.

I think I just had to get over the hump of fear because I am really enjoying it! I figured if a scale lifts too much I can just dab a tiny glue and just stick back on; regardless it is a beauty of a leather!
