The coach Parker

I was considering the Parker in gray at Macy's because it is cheaper than the one I wanted at Coach, but since they won't mark them down (at least online) I decided against that one. I finally decided to do the 15% off new customer at Neiman Marcus for the one I really want which is the Parker with border rivets (the one that is partly black/brown/signature with snake detail on the side). Still more than I wanted to pay, but at least I saved something. I had seen it in the Coach store, and really liked it. If Coach would have just allowed the sale to include Parkers I would have given them the sale. Kind of annoying how they exclude random items.

I hope I don’t regret doing this, but I went back to Macy’s today and bought the gray Parker, too!

Luckily, I got the same sales woman (as when I purchased the black one) and she honored the 30% off again, BUT, then moved the sign away from the Coach Parkers because she said she realized they are excluded from the sale, but the rest of the Coach bags are included. I think it depends on who your sales person is and whether they are willing to override the price.

I really like the leather on the gray better, because it seems to be treated and less prone to scratches than the black leather!

They are both so beautiful! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the leather. I really like the grey but am planning to just a black one. I am going to wait and hopefully be able to see some in person. My only hesitation on the black one is that the brass is very bright, and I prefer silver or soft gold or dark. I like the hardware on your grey!

Beautiful bags - congratulations!
I'm looking at the same two at my Macy's. I'd really like the black - it has an old classic feel to me with the brass hardware. My only reluctance is, the leather on the 2 black ones my store has is much thinner. Extremely noticeable- especially the flap.
When you feel yours side by side, do you notice a difference- or did my store just get a bad batch?

They feel the same thickness to me, but the black is not as stiff as the gray. The black is more pliable, which seems to be a result of the leather type (still trying to determine if it’s glove-tanned or calf leather-anybody know?)

The hardware on the black is nice though- it seems that it’ll withstand anything, whereas the gray gunmetal hardware will chip easily. The floor model gray at my local Macy’s has soooo many chips and scuff on the hardware!

It is refined calf for the plain ones and nappa leather on the soft quilted ones.

Thank you for mentioning the hardware! What color is under the gunmetal? Is the brass the same color underneath or does it just seem more durable? The black with brass gets more points for this now. Thank you!

The gunmetal seems to be a matte gray metal beneath the top layer (must just be a coating over the metal to get the gunmetal look) whereas the matte gold seems to be solid (even if it’s not)- I saw a few dents on the black/ gold floor model but they we not a different color metal than the surface (as the gunmetal clearly was beneath the top coating/finish). I hope that makes sense!

Thank you! That makes sense and is very helpful. I have a Swagger Shoulderbag, Chain Crossbody and Carrie Crossbody with that gunmetal hardware and was wondering how it would hold up.

I spent quite a bit of time with the black Parker at Macy's yesterday, and I may have ordered it from BonTon just now at 30% off... ;) I was going back and forth between this and a black Charlie, but I am figuring the Charlie will make it to another sale at some point perhaps in another color I like and, if not, there's always the Market Tote I have had on my list forever that will be on sale, lol. Can't wait to get my Parker and take her out!

I wanted to say thank you for mentioning the BonTon sale.
I have been between minds on the Parker at full price, but with the 30% off I went ahead and ordered.

The base Parker is one of the few Coach bags that I thought was priced right on the nose, but I am always looking for savings so that Bon-Ton sale pushed me to do it, it is a great deal at 30% off. It has been extended through Tuesday btw, with two possible codes (not stackable with each other) plus free shipping.

Debating if I should take it in for customization - have seen some lovely tea rose and rivets customizations but also like it pristine. Hmm...

I agree, but like you I like a good deal, I would have just waited until Coach did a sales event and bought multiple bags to get the highest discount.
Plus I just got a rogue a couple weeks ago, and I have a market tote on my list (maybe the navy from BonTon), as well as a smaller bag for travel in a couple weeks (maybe a Dylan? I'm not sure yet).

I haven't thought of customizing, I enjoy seeing what the ladies have done but I really like them as is.

I like to give my SA at Coach the business, but I had just gotten stuff with the PCE and also Coach Herald Square 50% off clearance items, so a full price Parker wasn't in the cards. But then with that BonTon deal I struck while the iron was hot. I was thinking that this is a bag that probably won't be more than 30% off anyway from Coach, if the basic colors ever do make it to sale to begin with.
