Hi! I just purchased a small boy in chevron red lambskin with ghw (early Valentine’s present from hubby) and even though I love the color/hw/pattern combination, I’m so paranoid that lambskin may get scratched easily. I plan to use it only on weekends, and I do have a medium classic flap in patent leather and a medium boy in caviar (and some other designer bags) to rotate through so I won’t be using it every weekend, but I also don’t want to have to baby it too much every time I take it out of the box. Should I keep it or return it and wait until I can find it in caviar? Will the color gets dull and the quilt becomes less puffy over time? It’s such a beauty to look at right now!

Agree with @mtstmichel - this looks like calf to me. I owned 2 calf Boys previously and they aged beautifully. I’ve not seen Boys get scratched easily except for when the owner didn’t take good care. I’ve also not had Chevron get deflated but make sure you store the bag properly. Only thing you can hardly avoid is the corners getting some use (slightly less in calf etc than lamb) as they are the only 4 points where the bag touches the ground. It’s a beauty!

Thank you both for your input! I texted my SA this morning but he has yet to reply. I’m hoping you girls are correct because I want to keep it so bad. I just checked the receipt and it said veau, does that mean it’s calfskin?

Such a beautiful bag, the color is stunning!! From your photos, it looks calfskin. I think the 'Y82266' code will tell you the material/hardware combo:flowers:

Thank you! I can’t find this code on chanel website because this style is 19C I believe, but there are some bags on the pre-loved market with the same code and they’re all calfskin which makes me feel much better. It’s so weird how my SA never mentioned calfskin once the whole time I was at the store, he was focusing on telling me how delicate lambskin was so I was under the impression that this was lambskin. The store was super busy yesterday with a 1-hour long line to get in so maybe he was just tired/distracted. They even ran out of boxes and told me to come back another time for a box, didn’t even put the receipt in a nice envelope. It was so underwhelming.

Same!! I did a quick search and found that code associated with calfskin leather (of course, by no mean can confirm). Your bag is so so gorgeous :loveeyes:

Your SA might have been confused with the leather, but honestly, I'm shocked if that's the case. How didn't he realize!! Maybe a new SA? To me, it's obvious from a photo. He was able to look, touch and talk to you about the bag..in person. Also, shouldn't SA's be well versed with the codes?!

I'm sorry you didn't have a great experience at the store. What a bummer. I hear there is a box shortage. Definitely follow up for a box.

My man bought me a small boy in calfskin over the holiday. It's becoming one of my most used chanel bags. I love it!! I hope you enjoy yours. LOVE the combo:heart:

Thank you ladies for all of your replies! My SA finally got back to me and confirmed it is in fact calfskin not lambskin. I also reached out to a customer service agent on live chat and got the same answer (btw they’re very responsive on live chat if you ever have a question). Now I can put my mind at rest and enjoy my new bag. I’m sure it’ll get lots of used and be well loved.

Congratulations on your purchase too! I love the small boy size and personally think it looks more flattering on my small body frame without being too bulky. Enjoy yours! What combination did you get?
