Yeah, I believe it went up late last year. Also, the only Cerfs available now in stores are the new grainy leather, which if you take a look at my last few posts, I'm contemplating keeping since it's very heavy compared to the older leather used.
What kind of leather is the new grainy leather? Is it calf or deerskin? I consider getting the cerf because I already have one GST but with that increase, I might as well get another GST!
My SA swears it is goatskin and not deerskin or calfskin like some SAs are saying. My SA has been selling Chanel for over 20 years.
She said the original cerf totes were deerskin, but that was it. That is also how the bag got its name... "Cerf" means deer in French.
The official name now is Executive Tote because it is no longer deerskin, but the cerf tote name has stuck.

What's the difference between the "regular" cerf tote and the "seasonal"?Still contemplating keeping the seasonal Cerf, ONLY because of the weight of it...but it's soooo nice!!!

Have any of you had issues with the handles of the executive tote? I just purchased mine on Saturday and wore it for the first time today (Monday). When I got home from work, I noticed that there is a pretty large crack in the front handle. I did purchase the floor model (which I very rarely do) but I still think the handles should have held up for more than one use. I have a few LV Sofia Coppola bags that show very slight cracks in the glazing, but that is after years of use. Has anyone else had this problem? How will Chanel handle it? I am so disappointed because I really loved this bag. I always thought Chanel bags and LV bags were of similar quality? I've never had this issue after one day of use of an LV bag. TIA.
Sorry you are having some issues with your Cerf tote. Were you able to fix the lose thread at least? Ladies, please correct me if I'm wrong but I think you can bring it in Chanel to have the lose thread fixed. Not sure what can be done with the sides slouching. I think it's suppose to happen overtime with this bag. I recently saw the classic Cerf leather side by side with the seasonal Cerf leather. Honestly I think the seasonal grainy leather is thicker and will hold its shape better over time. The classic leather is softer, smoother though. It also has some luxurious sheen to it as well.
I took photos my pink Cerf tote's sides for your reference. It's also in the seasonal grainy deerskin. I have been using it for 4 days--once with a laptop in it. I could see some slight creasing on the sides and I think this develops from carrying it by the long strap.

I using base for bottom, 2 outer side pockets and 1/2 side bag, so far I have been carry everyday and everywhere even at Asian supermarket and it had been bumped couple time, lucky it's survived with no marks or scratches yet and still luxury sheen, love it. I love your Pink.
