I forgot yes I did try out @ Neiman Marcus in Walnut Creek, CA has old cert tote with serial # 16xxxxxx in black shw , call Houman Sadighpour 925-279-3000 Ext 6015 email [email protected] (mention Paulina is a customer tried out but want ghw last May) if you still want exchange to old Cert tote leather. I compared my new version leather more sheen than old leather just my 2cents opinion.Looks great on you!!!!! Thanks for posting

Take it back...there is no way you should pay that kind of money for something that is not perfect for years to come...of course, when you take good care of it.
Thanks~I actually called Chanel and they were very good about it. They are arranging to have a new bag sent to me (after I send mine back). It just upsets me because this bag is otherwise perfect~some of the other bags had a much larger or smaller grain, but this one was perfection, except for the handle of course. I really hope I get lucky next time. This is what I get for buying the floor model. I never do that and I've never had issues like this so early on. Thanks for the feedback.
One of my friends has the original leather and I went to her place over this past weekend and tried both versions on with all my stuff in it. Hers was sooo much lighter, I mean the difference was pretty major, so I did wind up returning mine the next day. It was just too much for me to consider using it as an everyday bag. If they bring the old one back then great, I'll get it then. For now though, I am waiting on a WOC

I'm glad you returned it! I didn't want to sound too negative in my posts earlier that I hated the new heavier goatskin bag, but as you can guess, the fact I got rid of my seasonal one and bought a classic cerf tote says it all. No way could I carry that seasonal heavy one all day after I put things in my bag.
Good decision! Try Neiman Marcus, they always seem to have them, Chicago and Houston seem to stock them. Maybe they have a classic one. I think the classic one will come back.
If you like white, I know there was a white classic cerf tote in NM in Chicago a little while ago. I almost purchased it, but I already have two white Chanel totes (GST and Medallion), so I passed. The white is gorgeous for summer.

Yeah I kept trying to convince myself that the bag wasn't too heavy lol! I walked all over my house with my stuff in it, tried it on my arm, my shoulder, with the strap and in the end I just knew it wouldn't work for everyday. Such a shame
I do hope to find the original leather, but right now I'm more focused on getting a WOC since I do really have enough everyday bags at this time. Regarding white, no I would never consider that for such a big bag but thank you for the suggestion. If and when I do get the bag someday, I'd choose black, or burgundy, which I wish I had gotten when available a couple years ago. I would be shocked though if Chanel doesn't bring the old leather back because I can't imagine ladies will truly be able to wear the seasonal version comfortably day in and day out.
Today I had the opportunity to try on the seasonal one n the regular one At the store And indeed the regular one is a lot lighter!! I can see it as a very nice everyday bag!

I love the Chanel Cerf Tote and have been hoping to add one to my wardrobe. I've been looking at buying a preloved one and noticed a lot of the hologram serial numbers start with 6. I've been looking on only, (what I thought were), reputable site that verify 100% authentic, but I'm getting a bit nervous about authenticity. In researching about the bags, all the hologram guides I read say serial numbers on the holograms starting with a 6 are from 2000-2002 but the cerf tote didn't come out until 2005. Are they all fake or am I missing something?

I got a chance to see cerf tote at Saks today. I love the understated beauty of the bag. I wish I really knew what the difference is between the seasonal version and the classic. Anyway, I was with a friend and she bought the bag. It is a stunner
