After much research (I.e. shopping), I decided that my next Chanel would be the Cerf tote. I got very lucky to find the most beautiful Burgundy Cerf at Saks. Even though I thought I wanted red so I could begin carrying it for the summer, I knew I couldn't leave this one behind. I'd regret it every time I wouldn't find it in my closet. That is a gorgeous color!

Anyone have trouble with Cerf quality? I bought a new (gorgeous) blue one from retail store. After two days of gentle use, the leather was rubbing on seams and hardware for shoulder strap was broken (though it could have been like that when I bought it since I didn't use strap). Store took it back and is getting me a new one, but I'm not sure I should take it. Thoughts?

I only have the small one so I don't have the shoulder strap but I've been using and abusing mine for 6months or so, no issues at all, no scratches, no color transfer, no leather breaking, etc. It is the sturdiest Chanel bag I own. I stuff a LOT of things in it too, and the shape held up well, and it still looks brand new.

Hi, I'm trying to find the style number for the Cerf tote in black with gold hardware. I have the style for silver hw but not gold. It's the classic size that currently retails for 3000 in USA. If anyone has this snd can take a photo of the tag, i very much appreciate it!! Thanks all for your help!!!!

As promised, here is a photo of the tag for the Cerf tote, black with gold hardware.

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of buying cerf tote (big size) for work. How heavy is the bag when empty? I hope the leather is not as heavy as Ebene LV. I'm looking for a light classy bag for work that can fit my MacBok Air and other work stuff

Thanks in advance for all your advise. xoxo

By the big size do you mean their classic which is more a medium? As I wasn't aware if they make a larger 1. If this is the size you refer to then I don't think it's overly heavy when it's empty IMO. I think this bag is amazing and would be perfect for a every day or work bag that has many compartments to carry all the things you need. If you can i would suggest you get to a boutique so you can test the bag before you purchase it and that way you can see if it is heavy for your liking. However i dont think you could be disappointed with this bag. Good luck with your purchase.

If you have the opportunity to go down to a boutique or department store to try this bag, you really should. It's such an elegant bag for work, not too ostentatious but just right, and it should fit most of what you need. When you go to try the bag, bring your computer and some files (or whatever you carry the most for work) and try putting them in the bag as it sits on the counter (they should allow you to do that). Best of luck and please share if you do buy one! :)

I just created a post, but I thought this may be a good place to ask my question. I received a pre-loved cerf today that I purchased via EBay, and it was not as described in terms of the condition. I am on the fence about possibly having the repairs/cleaning done myself, but saw this during my inspection and was wondering if this is "normal" per se:

It's a random leather patch on the bag, that I can't figure out what from. Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to figure out if it is worth keeping with a zipper missing and stains on the inside, small stain on outside, and an odor of must/perfume. I understand pre-loved means it will not be new. But this said "excellent condition" and I don't find missing zipper pulls and stains to be "excellent...." I call it a project.

Any help is appreciated!

So I checked my Cerf that I bought at Chanel in Paris last July and that leather patch on mine has the text Chanel on it in gold. I am not sure how the logo got rubbed off as I don't know how old your bag is and how worn it is. Did you check the serial number and have it authenticated in this forum? Then if it is real I would take it into Chanel to do a spa treatment on it. I had my 2.55 stitching fixed and they cleaned and treated the leather so that it looked like new. (The bag is 4 years old.)

Hope this helps!

Do you mind sharing how much that cost when you did that? This is from 2002 (older than what she claimed in the listing). I did have it authenticated both here and on etinceler authentications, so it should be okay.

I'm just so frustrated and wondering if it is worth paying more money on top of what I already have?
