I have a cerf tote that I bought in 2008. Mine is also VERY slouchy now and the leather on the handles have ripped (probably from all the weight of the stuff that I put in there). It definitely lost the "box" shape that I bought it in. Your best bet on re-shaping the bag to its original form would be to take it to a Chanel boutique and have them send it in for repair. I believe they send it to New York or Paris to refurbish the bag. I remember seeing the price to do like a complete "bag makeover" to make the bag look like brand new is around $250. I would ask further, however, about replacing the strap. They may charge extra for that. There is DEFINITELY hope for your bag though, so I don't think you should buy a new one!!

I don't think they'd give you a replacement strap for free and don't think you should get a new one because the old one has lost its shape...the new one would end up the same eventually.

I stuff mine when not in use, but they definitely do get slouchier with age. I also learned (the hard way!) not to overload them, as the straps have gotten a bit elongated over time.

I took the bag in and they said zero hope for reshaping. It's meant to slouch and they will not replace the strap.. once its damaged or lost it's gone forever. I will not buy a new one since they told me the same exact thing would happen with the new one. They can only clean the bag for $110 and that's about it. I'm pretty disappointed.

I also do this in terms of stuffing it with the original paper. I have had mine for exactly one year and it's shape is the same as when I bought it. I also do not put a lot of stuff in it and use it maybe a couple times a month. I am hoping that it stays intact!

I can fit my cerf tote over my shoulder with the handles, but it is not comfy at all and I think it looks weird. I don't think it was intended to be worn that way. With the detachable strap it is very comfortable. I usually carry mine as a tote, but on occasions when I feel that I need my hands free or have a lot to carry I attach the strap. If you want a bag for work I think the cerf tote with the strap is the way to go.

I fully agreed. This is what I normally do as well.
