Tatiana Beam (woman on the left) is the international adoption advocate who claims that Angelina Jolie is breaking Vietnamese adoption law that states couples who are unmarried are not allowed to adopt children from Vietnam.
She said: “This is a clear contradiction of Vietnamese law, and such situations would not be allowed for other couples. Most co-habitating couples who try to adopt as a single parent are either turned away from agencies or face difficulties.”

What cave has this lady crawled out of that she is just realizing that people with power, money, and yes even celebrities receive special treatment?
What she should be doing is praising Jolie for bringing positive attention to adoption and how it benefits the children instead of squabbling over Jolie’s special treatment. Pick your battles! It’s not like the kids are going to be locked in cages in Ohio

I don't know..but if I was a person or co-habitating couple who are trying to adopt a Vietnamese kid and really wants one but isn't allowed by the Law I'd be kind of upset at this supposed special treatment to Brangelina. These people wanting could treat the child just as good as Brangelina and possibly even devote them even more time. I can see why some people would be :cursing:.

But anyways, I think this family is very cute and look forward to watching them grow together.

umm, its a noble thing shes doing by adopting children. I dont understand why people have to bash her for this or give her a hard time because rules were bent for her. who cares? another helpless child would be out of poverty.

Angelina and Brad adopt little boy

Wednesday March 7, 10:30 PM
The child that Angelina Jolie plans to adopt in Vietnam is a little boy and he will probably be moving to the US in the next three months, Vietnam's top adoption official said.

Jolie chose the child, who is between three and four years old, during a recent visit to the Tam Binh orphanage on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City, said Vu Duc Long, the head of the Justice Ministry's international adoption department in Hanoi.
Under ordinary circumstances, Long said, it takes about four months to process an adoption after the forms arrive at his office.
If the prospective parent has already chosen a child, the adoption can be completed in just three months.
"Three months would be the longest," Long said, adding that Jolie's case could be processed faster than that.
Long confirmed last week that Jolie had filed adoption papers, but did not provide any details about the child or how long the process would take.
Jolie initiated the adoption process in the US, but her application only arrived at Long's office last week.
His department has approved the application and sent it to officials in Ho Chi Minh City, who must also review it.
Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt, have three children: five-year-old Maddox, adopted from Cambodia; two-year-old Zahara, adopted from Ethiopia; and another daughter, Shiloh, who was born to the couple in May. The pair made a surprise visit to the Tam Binh orphanage last November, when they were spotted cruising around Ho Chi Minh City on a motorbike.

I don't care if she adopts or not but lets not put foot or boot in mouth wrt to her comments about Madonna and wanting to be on the "right side of the law" and then have said law bent in this situation, if in fact that is what the law says. But like most things.. foreign adoptions are alot of times a gray area and they are doing very noble things adopting kids who otherwise would have a not so great life in an orphange.

This situation really bothers me. The fact of the matter is, she is getting preferential treatment. A single woman from America who is not as well known as her would probably have to wait YEARS to adopt a child there. I realize she is giving a needy child a home, and that's fine. I'd like to see her adopt an AMERICAN child who needs parents. There are millions of them in foster care this minute. But you know what? SHE WON'T DO IT because she would be put under scrutiny like anyone else.

yeah, i totally agree.
she's doing a great thing by giving these kids a home, but ive always wondered why, if shes adopting so many kids, not give an american child a home too? its not like there aren't orphans here who need homes just as much...
