To make certain I was correct about the weight of my bags I weighed mine. The Bayswater weighed 2 1/2 pounds and the double zip weighed just a fraction over 2 pounds. I have attached pics of the bags I used to weigh. ImageUploadedByPurseForum1435430264.167813.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1435430284.699966.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1435430301.434512.jpg

As an example of bag weights, I also posted a picture of an Alexander McQueen padlock I recently purchased and it weighed a little more than my Bayswater. I had to return the AMcQ due to quality issues.

The large Bayswater does have a zipper on one large storage area inside the bag.

Izzy, thank you so much for your detailed and long answer. You are too kind!

I'm sorry to hear that you and your daughter suffer from back issues. Is she tall, too? I am (1,78m/5'11) and my major double skoliosis is an effect from growing to much too fast. [emoji19] All the best to you both!

Your experiences with Zippy Bays are very helpful for me - as you even covered points I haven't thought of. I'm always paranoid about the weight and forget how important a long enough shoulder strap is! Poor shoulder strap always gets only my second glance. Although I often see nice bags that are made for some "standard" person, that isn't as tall as I am. But I guess you have encountered this as well. [emoji6]

I can't thank you enough for weighing your bags! This is great! Several times in the past I bought a bag in the store thinking, that it is not too heavy. Then I weighed it at home to learn it was much heavier than I thought. So this is really a valuable info. In fact I already saw myself together with my kitchen scales in the Mulberry store [emoji1]. I guess the Zippy will be heavier in NVT leather, but I also think that it might be more comfortable to carry and therefore will feel less heavier than a regular Bays. Thanks again for weighing and sharing your experience from the back issue point of view. I can imagine now what to expect if I use Zippy the whole day as I have bags with more or less the same weight. Your point on over loading the bag is valid. Even my Le Pliage (the favorite bag of my physiotherapist) gets heavy when I stuff her. [emoji4]

Your pictures are a great help, too. Size wise and also because I can see how your Zippy develops a little bit of slouch - which is very nice imo.

I can understand absolutely that you miss your red Zippy B. Such a beautiful bag. Have you ever seen Poppy Red irl? I think it's the most beautiful red. So if you are considering a new red Zippy I guess a Poppy Red one will be awesome! [emoji4]

Thank you so much again, Izzy. This was all very helpful. Now I'm getting slightly excited to see Zippy in all her beauty at the store. It might be really a good workhorse for my needs. [emoji1]

My daughter is tall as well and we are both 5'9". Because she is a nurse she often has to lift patients that are very heavy so her back has been significantly damaged. I have degenerative scoliosis so I know you suffer with your back. My red double zip which my daughter has is poppy red and it is beautiful. I also have a poppy red wallet and it is pretty as well. She loves it. I asked her if she thinks it is too heavy and she said no she didn't think it is heavy unless she over loaded it. Since the other is nvt leather I don't know what the weight will be but my SA says the poppy red is in her opinion the prettiest red Mulberry has ever done based on the way the nvt leather takes the color. Again it is only the small size so the weight should be fine. If I decide to get one in red I will post a picture. ;)

I wish I could justify a Poppy Red purchase - SBS is calling my name. But I fear I won't get enough use out of it. So I stick to the classics. I wish you a happy Poppy Red hunt. Hopefully you are going to post a beauty here. :smile1:
Kudos to your daughter! Being a nurse is really hard earned money and often not well enough regarded. I keep my fingers crossed, that both of your backs won't get any worse. Those issues can "kill" you sometimes...

Well, ladies, those of you who are interested in a double zip and are interested in poppy red should look at the new poppy red double zip in the small version. It is the most beautiful color of red I have seen and it is a true red. Mine arrived today and it is a light weight relaxed bag done in Mulberry's nvt leather.

I'd love to see pictures! I can imagine that it must be one of the most beautiful bags. [emoji4]
Jealous without even seeing it. [emoji1]

Here are a few pictures showing this lovely bag from Mulberry. Unfortunately the pictures are poor quality so you cannot really see the beauty of the color of the bag. The inside lining is a deep beige which I like because it's easy to see inside the bag. I'm also including a picture in lower light and a picture showing almost all the things I carry with me.

Oh ladies this thread is developing quickly :) looks like we're becoming a fanclub here!

Ludmilla, I'm so sorry I still owe the pictures to you. I worked 16h per day on my application so haven't made it to Mulberry yet, but will visit this week hopefully.

I guess what's helping with the weight what you ladies already explained is the lining...I found the small zippy in black very light, especially compared to a reg Willow.

Have you seen the new one in regal blue? It's also so beautiful...oh and Izzy your poppy red addition is simply devine (sorry in case I repeat myself...hehe)

What a wonderful bag. Truly one of the most beautiful bags I've seen on this forum. And the small size fits quite a lot.
Thanks for sharing your new pop of red and enjoy her!

Don't worry! Your application is so much more important than bags. Keeping all my fingers crossed for you! :D
Yes, I think you've started a Zippy B fanclub... ;)

Happy to have added what I name, "Official mulberry bag of Smaug," to my collection. :D

Since viewing Benedict Cumberbatch photos, in "celebrities with mulberry bags" thread, grew quite fond of oak nvt look for the style.

My new slouchy leather dragon bag.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand the LOTR reference? :doggie:

A beautiful addition remainsilly - I love this bag so much, if I had the money I'd get it in every color....but first I have to save for at least one of them.
Telling from Mr Cumberbatch's picture it really will age beautifully...very well chosen!
