Oh so sorry Izzy, I thought your black one was the small. Thank you so much for your review, your opinion means a lot to me. I'm also afraid that it will loose it's structure - but all in all I'm so careful with my bags, I hope it wont anytime soon if I really get my hands on it.

I saw a posting of a beautiful Mulberry grouping and the poster described her double tote as the workhorse and each bag had a purpose. I thought that was a perfect description because in my opinion that is exactly what it is. I would be shocked if a double zip lost its structure. If that happened Mulberry would have to replace it. The manager of the shop where I buy once explained the process for making a double zip and a Willow and it was fascinating to me. It is no wonder that are so expensive.

oh yes, the process is so amazing, I'm often on the hunt for Mulberry videos, blogposts, etc - it's so beautiful how these bag come to life. I saw one on ebay that totally lost it's shape and looked more like pudding....but my second thought was it's a fake. I still have to save up really badly to get a new bag, it's been almost one year since I got my beloved willow, and altough it was love at first sight with the Bayswater DZ, I'm still very thoughtful about my buyings. So thank you so much for your help dearest Izzy, you're a great help! x

Mine is lined with black fabric, just as Izzy described. I don't have a problem with it, though I do prefer the old "mulberry tree" lining in my Alexa.

I'm just as glad it's not lined with suede... that would make the bag quite heavy.

Thank you so much Elaine! I saw that the Oak ones are with the tree lining - and you're so right, I haven't thought about the weight. Suede would make it a lot more heavier - I'm still so green when it comes to those little details. Thank you so much! x

They have a couple of small double-zips on sale at the moment (at least on the U.S. site) and one of them is on sale. There might be larger blue ones on sale, too. I don't know where you're located; the sale is apparently coming to the U.K. next week.

Happy hunting!

ETA: The sale one is "Sea Blue"... probably lighter than you want.

Hi,
Can you do what's in my bag pictures? I'm dreaming for the red one and they are on sale ATM. So, I'm thinking for it.
xx

Thanks so much for your pic. I'm really indecisive as this will be my first designer bag spending a thousand on it.

Hi ladies!
I'm circling around the small double zippy bays as a bag for work... but the open top is keeping me away from it. Not really because of pick pockets (indeed I commute by train and sometimes underground but there are the two zippy compartments) but mainly because of :rain: . Have you ever experienced a sudden downpour with your double zippy? How do you like the open middle compartment? Does it give you worries? What do you carry in the open compartment - if this is not a too nosy question? Is it practical for the daily adventures we face?
Thank you in advance! :smile1:

Izzy - I read, that you have the large version of this bag. Does it fit DIN-A 4? And may I ask how heavy this bag is? It does look like a great meeting bag when you have to carry a lot of paperwork around, but I do have back issues and I've never seen the bag irl but I heard from different people who saw it, that it is very heavy (heavier than a regular Bays). Is this true? I would really appreciate some insight from you, as you wrote that you use your bags very often. Thank you so much! :smile1:

Elaine - I'm feeling a bit sad, because you didn't do a double zippy reveal. Or did I miss it? Your reveals are always so nice and fun. :D

MissStephie - thanks for starting this thread!

Oh, Ludmilla... now I'm feeling guilty that I didn't do a reveal for my double zippy! The reason is, I got two bags that day (the other was not a Mulberry... shhh!), and I thought it would be a little "over the top" to do reveals on two bags; like bragging!:p Thank you for saying you like my reveals... I promise you one in the future, when I get my next Mulberry.

It's interesting that you have heard that the D-Z is a heavy bag. I don't know about the large one (Izzy can answer that) but my small one, in polished goat, is incredibly lightweight... one of my lightest bags! If I weren't trying to be good about switching to a new bag every week, I would carry my D-Z all the time purely for weight reasons; it would make my physical therapist very happy!:D

As for the open compartment, this is where I keep things that I need to get to very quickly, like my phone, and also unimportant things, like receipts that I seem to collect during the day, and my makeup bag.

My only quibble about the small D-Z (and this might not be true of the large one... Izzy will know) is that there is no little zip-up pocket anywhere for keys! This truly makes no sense to me. Didn't they talk to actual women when they designed this bag? I have a car key which I keep separate from my ring of house keys, so I potentially have two different things that could either fall to the bottom of the bag and get lost, or fall out of the bag and get lost. Not good! My solution is to put all my keys in a little pouch, and store the pouch in one of the zipped sides of the bag (the side closest to my hip, which is the side where I keep my wallet) but it is an annoyance.

I hope all this has been helpful!

Elaine, please don't feel guilty! There will be another "reveal time with Elaine" and I'm very much looking forward to it! [emoji4]

Thank you very much for your words and opinions on the small Zippy Bays! I appreciate it very much that you've taken the time to highlight your thoughts about this bag. It's always great to hear such things from persons who really own and use the bag.

I'm glad to hear that your version is so lightweight. I'm weight paranoid when it comes to bags. Too heavy bags are painful for the back and the wallet. If I go with Zippy B I guess it will be the oak NVT version which might be a bit heavier than polished goat. But we needn't tell my physiotherapist this. [emoji6]

I'm with you on the "no inner zip pocket"! That's something many complain about Mulberry bags. [emoji19] I'm quite fond of rummaging in my bags but sometimes it's also nice to just find things, esp. keys. [emoji1]

Hopefully I can make a trip to my next store soon. So I can compare both sizes and put my stuff into them. And see if I feel comfortable with the open compartment. Or if the large Zippy B is as heavy as I've heard. I'm also considering the "coming soon" Roxette. Decisions, decisions. [emoji1]

Btw. I'm trying to install the one week one bag rule at the moment. Much harder than I thought...

Thank you so much Elaine! This was really helpful for me! [emoji4]

Ludmilla, I also have back issues as well as rheumatoid arthritis and this bag is not too heavy for me. Mine is polished goat and it isn't as heavy as my Bayswaters, not nearly. I have read where several people say it is heavier but it my experience it is not. The large one is easy to carry because of the handle strap adjustments and the cross body strap is even long enough for tall people like me. I have never lost anything from the compartment that doesn't have a zipper. I keep glasses, inhaler, and epi-pen in mine. I have found when I use this bag I always put the same things in the same places and I am always organized in this bag never having to search for things. As for rain, I have been caught twice with this bag and noting inside was wet but my outside leather was so I wiped it off and it has been fine. I did loan my red one to my daughter because she didn't have a red bag and when we loan to each other it is usually the same as a gift. She is 27 and she loves the bag and doesn't find it too heavy. She also has back issues so weight is a factor to her as well. However, if you over load it it will be heavy. When I carry files, iPod, iPad, Kendle, and other things like that plus my regular things it is heavy. However, any bag will be. To be honest, I have missed my red double zip so I am thinking of getting the new one with the nvt leather in poppy red which is a small one. Who knows? If you would like me to, I will weigh my Bayswater and my double zip and tell you what they weigh.
