I had similar issues with my 06 Lilac, even after a couple of cleanings they still remained. A professional may be able to remove or cover them, but a color like this lilac would be tricky to work with (imo), specifically this version of leather and all of its veining/nuances. I eventually rehomed my City because of it.

Honestly, I'm really surprised Demna is leaving Bal. He's pretty much molded it into his hypebeast/streetwear vibe he's known for, with seemingly no boundary pushed too far.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for a new era and new CD, I'm just surprised given all the ups and downs during his time, that he's choosing now. I would love to see Bal go back to the "under the radar but still edgy" sorta vibe.

He's leaving on a high note, that's for sure. There have been more than enough questionable and downright disgusting campaigns under his name. I'm glad to see him go, sorry not sorry. Buh-bye!

Finally !!!! He is perhaps better fit for Gucci , to explain this - I am not a big fan of Gucci, so he can go there from my own point of view, just leave Balenciaga please !!!!
While I do appreciate some of the bag offerings under his leadership (vampire neo classics, Rodeo), too frequently I felt like his approach to design was a giant gimmicky troll. Who needs to design new beautiful things when you can make $4000 leather bag versions of non-bag things? My dude, we actually work hard for our money.

@Deco It's funny, I was thinking this same thing! I definitely liked some of his designs. In my own collection, I'm thinking of those Neo Classics, the Bazar, Le Cagole, even the Blackout (? --at least I think that was his, correct me if I'm wrong). But so many others, just no. Not for me.

Demna is definitely polarizing, which is a good thing I suppose if you're a brand owner and you want people talking about it. All press is good press, right? Maybe not.

The ad campaign featuring children was definitely bad press and Balenciaga took real world financial hit as a result, though it did recover.

I give credit where it's due, and some of his creations were lovely. What bothered me most, and still does to this day, even more than the leather trash bag and Lays potato chip bags, is how much high volume dilutive trash he put out. Searching for Bal bags has permanently become a chore because you have to wade through an ocean of mass-produced, low design bags just to find a drop or two of the good stuff. I think he carpet-bombed the bag market with overwhelming quantity over quality. Preloved Bal shopping was not such a drudgery back in the day.

... Hedi Slimane still doesn't have a home, right?:lol::lol:

... and don't @ me with, "he should just have his own line," because he should, but I will take him anywhere! lololol

Just remembered about his lawsuit with Kering - NVM!
Oh nooooo please ! I was active on Yves Saint Laurent forum here even often as an authenticator, and stopped even being a part of it when Slimane came. His and Demna’s “I want all to see how cool I am in dark punk-ish expensive outfits” just made me yawn. I am grunge style, my husband was a punk musician in those times, punk rock etc etc l worshipped Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen because of spontaneous rebellion and at the same time deep sense of style and elegance. Demna and Slimane each in his own way came as wannabes into that realm and I lost interest.

Slimane first ruined YSL name of the company and made SLP Saint Laurent Paris (probably went back to the original but whatever) and THEN he made a circus with oversized YSL logos everywhere. Well the good thing is that it made me keep my logo-free YSL bags forever 😂

I can’t wait to see who will come to Balenciaga !

Gonna preface this with: This is just personal preference - the world wouldn't be as interesting if everyone dressed and thought the same...

Hedi has always been for indie rock n' rollers, albeit rich indie rock n' rollers (we can unpack that oxymoron later lololol), though.

... like, his 00-07 Dior Homme was iconic (ok, yes inspired initially by OGs Joy Division/The Cure/etc. and then became, like, synonymous with The Libertines/The Strokes/etc.), but yeah, he didn't really stray far from that with Saint Laurent and at Celine - however, if you love his tailoring and look, then it's not a big deal.

If he can push out of his classic Hedi-isms, I do stand by the idea that his style would definitely bring Balenciaga somewhat closer to what Nicolas did.

However, like Phoebe at Celine, he probably just needs his own label. :P

... but anyways, super doubtful in general that he would go to Balenciaga, lol.

Anthony is the one doing the oversized YSL logo on the very oversized totebag and sunnies - Hedi left ~10 years ago...

I think Galliano would be the perfect fit for Balenciaga....He'd go into the archieves and come up with some fabulous designs.
I will add that I've brought quite a few pieces of RTW since Demna has been at the house..But then I've always enjoyed the work of Belgian and Japanese designers and Rick Owens So I guess that explains why I gravitate towards some of Demnas rtw.
