Gonna preface this with: This is just personal preference - the world wouldn't be as interesting if everyone dressed and thought the same...

Hedi has always been for indie rock n' rollers, albeit rich indie rock n' rollers (we can unpack that oxymoron later lololol), though.

... like, his 00-07 Dior Homme was iconic (ok, yes inspired initially by OGs Joy Division/The Cure/etc. and then became, like, synonymous with The Libertines/The Strokes/etc.), but yeah, he didn't really stray far from that with Saint Laurent and at Celine - however, if you love his tailoring and look, then it's not a big deal.

If he can push out of his classic Hedi-isms, I do stand by the idea that his style would definitely bring Balenciaga somewhat closer to what Nicolas did.

However, like Phoebe at Celine, he probably just needs his own label. :P

... but anyways, super doubtful in general that he would go to Balenciaga, lol.

Anthony is the one doing the oversized YSL logo on the very oversized totebag and sunnies - Hedi left ~10 years ago...
💡 Yes this is right actually , you placed them all nicely in order and style 👍

OMG, I just watched some of Dior Homme runways with Slimane, it is ICONIC indeed. In those years (I also missed original Nicholas' Bal frenzy) I jus immigrated to Canada, tried to make it here through additional schools with a musician husband and a 3.5 year old daughter, we missed a decade of amazing developments, we feel like we lost a decade altogether, because we often referred to some music and films as new, and they were from 10 years ago :) So, I missed this totally, and it is amazing. I hated him for messing with YSL after Ford and Pilati, but this Dior stuff is to die for. It is real and authentic and exciting which didn't retain well in YSL I think. I have a totally different appreciation for him now. THANKS for opening my eyes ! :drinks:

I think Galliano would be the perfect fit for Balenciaga....He'd go into the archieves and come up with some fabulous designs.
I will add that I've brought quite a few pieces of RTW since Demna has been at the house..But then I've always enjoyed the work of Belgian and Japanese designers and Rick Owens So I guess that explains why I gravitate towards some of Demnas rtw.
That would be my dream come true..

Just wanted to update here about the glue marks on my 06 Lilac, first I gently buffed with a white eraser, then I used my coach leather cleaner (with a q tip and very gently) and finished with a drink of Cadillac leather lotion. How do y’all think it turned out? Did I F it up? Thoughts? *I bought Meltonian Cream Shoe Polish in lilac and I *might use a drop to help blend even more...

It's definitely not as noticeable as before and blends in nicely with the leather's marbling. Nice job!

Definitely an improvement! A touch of colour in those spots will make big difference. The shoe polish will likely have to be touched up every now and then.

The ad campaign featuring children was definitely bad press and Balenciaga took real world financial hit as a result, though it did recover.

I give credit where it's due, and some of his creations were lovely. What bothered me most, and still does to this day, even more than the leather trash bag and Lays potato chip bags, is how much high volume dilutive trash he put out. Searching for Bal bags has permanently become a chore because you have to wade through an ocean of mass-produced, low design bags just to find a drop or two of the good stuff. I think he carpet-bombed the bag market with overwhelming quantity over quality. Preloved Bal shopping was not such a drudgery back in the day.
Exactly this. He diluted and brought down the cache that was still there even in the post AW years. He should have leaned into the leathers, dyes/colors, the Moto vibe with some classic shapes added. He made it too cartoonish for me, I was interested in almost nothing during his tenure. Original leathers and dye were elite (hello 2004), I hope they bring in a whole new vibe.

I'm more interested to know who will replace him at Bal. I have no loyalty or interest in Demna himself.
demna changed the brand a lot towards the hypebeast/streetwear market that i'm very interested in the path that the brand will take now that he's (gladly) gone.

jw anderson is also unemployed now so i don't think it would be that suprising to see him make an appearance although i think daniel roseberry is very likely to succeed demna and even tho i adore hedi and john galliano i just don't want them taking over the brand i think i just want nicola to come back :((((

Nicolas returning would be awesome but that would be a demotion from LV. Demna got a promotion to Gucci.
