Could it mean “Model” AKA Showroom Sample of some kind? Having worked for luxury brands in the past - some items are stamped a certain way when they are press/showroom samples.

I do remember inquiring about the Men’s Weekender early on at Balenciaga at the OG Chelsea boutique and they didn’t come with the mirror and I recall being told they weren’t offered in other colors besides black and only other dark colors.
The colour choices makes sense.

... and they have the leather tag as opposed to a metal/silver tag, right?

You guys are missing the point of my question
I know the Men’s Weekender had longer straps and leather tags
I was just curious if maybe that first season of the WE, they were intending on them being a part of the men’s collection, but their popularity caused them to make changes to distinguish them from the men’s from the women’s

I realize I’m unlikely to get an answer, but I was just curious because I thought that M was unique

The M stamp looks like it was added after the fact which still makes me believe it’s a Showroom Sample - given the distance of the M stamp from the rest of the stamp.

Most of them are created as regular stock - then - stamped or distinguished to be a sample only and not eligible for sale to clients. At this time, Balenciaga is still a fairly small company. And for example, Balenciaga NY (Chelsea) would “buy” their stock - like how many pieces and how many colors they would choose to stock at their boutique. So it would make sense for Balenciaga to have samples of styles/colors in order to be able to decide if they believe in purchasing a certain color or style at their location.

And to expand to your question. I think they were already interested in offering the Weekender to both Men and Women. Given that the Men’s colors were always traditionally conservative (especially relative to the time!).

I agree!!! It’s such a lucky and GREAT find. I would think this more common practice for wholesalers especially during the earlier days when fewer boutiques stocked Balenciaga (Barneys, Intermix, Aloha Rag, etc). And I’m sure when these samples were finally sold to employees they were heavily discounted - which is even more impressive considering that during that time no retailer was allowed to discount these Balenciaga bags for clients.

Not sure if anyone remembered when Saks did it and caused Balenciaga to pull their stock off their locations.

I do remember that
I can't remember the first time I ever saw a Balenciaga bag marked down
They were almost always excluded from F&F sales and special events like Neiman's Private Night
I remember shopping at Barneys and they'd have bags from 2-3 seasons ago at full price

@iluvmybags what do you use the pouch for? I’ve seen that style occasionally & I can’t find a good reason to get one. I’m hoping you’ll give me some ideas 😂
well right now, its full of peppermint puffs!
I've always been a pouch person -- it makes switching out bags a lot easier
I have several makeup pouches that I also use & rotate
I have makeup in one, odds and ends like pens, post its, reading glasses & nail clippers in another
I also have one to carry disposable masks
when I want a lighter load, I can easily remove the pouch & if I need more 'stuff" I just add a new pouch!

here's a pic I shared to the what are you carrying today thread a few weekends ago (that day, the drawstring had my glasses & masks)

I have the same teal pouch and the only thing I have used it for is to cushion my iPad when taking it out traveling. It is such squishy leather I just can’t seem to get rid of it. And I have seriously tried to think of other uses!
Not sure if you have other accessory cases, but you could use it for carrying pens in your bag, use it at home to store makeup brushes, keep it in your car for odds and end you may need while traveling

Hi all! I'm not sure if this is the correct place to inquire about this and/or whether it's appropriate to ask this on tPF. If it's not appropriate, I apologize in advance (moderators, feel free to delete this post if that's the case).
I'm wondering how I can find out if I'm over-pricing a bag (not selling on tPF). It's a like new 2009 GSH City but, in doing research, either I don't see a lot of GSH bags to compare to or prices are all over the place. Also, oftentimes, bags I do see listed are not in good condition so it's been difficult figuring out if I'm over-pricing my bag. If there's a place I can search to get a better sense of what Bbags (especially GSH) might go for, please let me know. Thank you!
