I give up!
How do they NOT know what a Balenciaga bag freaking looks like? :cursing:

Just heard from the buyer — they didn’t even give her the option of accepting the bag and she still wants it! Now what do I do?

I can’t believe this has happened to me TWICE in one week!

Wow. This is crazy. I bet the buyer is pissed. Very unusual not to let the buyer decide, especially when all the "flaws" they've identified have nothing to do with authenticity. They've just decided on their own that the condition doesn't meet the listing description/photos, and decided the buyer doesn't get to buy the bag. this can't be the proper protocol. I can see disallowing the sale if there is an authenticity issue. But not amorphous condition issues. Is there an appeal process?

What a pain! Which site was this on? I would list it on another site and tell the buyer where to find it.

ETA: or change your listing description to used when you relist and direct the buyer to it.
It was eBay, believe it or not!
I thought they verify authenticity, not whether or not the condition matched
Regardless, they clearly have people who don’t know what they’re looking at

The buyer actually contacted me almost immediately as confused as I was. She said they gave her the option to complete the purchase but before she could respond, they notified her that it had been cancelled. I did file an appeal, but the bag’s already been sent back to me so it wouldn’t matter one way or another

I knew eBay had issues authenticating older/vintage designer bags, but this finding makes no sense.

What concerns me is that they didn’t include any photos of their findings
What if the bag was damaged by the shipping company? I have absolutely no way to prove it!
I get the scuffs. If they’re not familiar with Balenciaga, they don’t get that the distressing is meant to be there (even says it on the tag!), but they mentioned stains and uncleanliness (even inside!) — like where? What are they referring to?

There are different rules when something goes through their authentication process. The buyer isn't allowed to claim not as described to force a return, so I guess they are being extra careful. I'm sure you're right, they don't understand what Bal leather is supposed to look like but I wonder what dirt they found inside.

Wow...Ebay, the company that has all these God-awful fakes? Ebay, the company that when aforementioned fakes are reported sends back a generic 'we saw no inconsistencies' reply?
Maybe instead of policing sales in which both parties are in agreement and there is zero dispute, they can start getting rid of scammers and counterfeiters?

I honestly think they just checked off a bunch of boxes
They mentioned stains on the outside too ("The exterior has more stains then listed or shown in the photos")
Unless the bag was damaged by the shipping company on its way there (which is possible -- I shipped it last Friday and it sat in a warehouse until Tuesday night), I don't know what they could be referring to. My photos showed every inch of the bag. I really think they're calling the deliberate distressing stains and scuffs.

I've stopped reporting the counterfeits
It was too depressing seeing one report after another rejected when they were so obviously fake

This happened to me, my bag was in excellent condition, when they finished "authenticating" they determined my bag was in piss poor shape. They DID however let the buyer decide if they still wanted the bag. Buyer decided not to go through with the sale, not surprised. Bag was returned to me. So I got the bag back, then sent it off to Fashionphile who sold it as Excellent shape. SMH.

Ebay really sucks. It's a crap shoot.

trouble is, we're running out of places to sell bags for more than $500
VC returned my black city to me last week for damage not disclosed, even tho it was disclosed in the description and shown in the pics. Now this with ebay. I called them and after thanking me for being a seller for 20 years, they proceeded to tell they returned the bag because it wasn't as described (DUH!) She tells me I can appeal the decision -- what good does that do when they already sent the bag back to me? And now they're charging me for the shipping charges! I told them they could forget it. I pulled all my listings for items $500+ -- its not worth the risk any more

Fashionphile says they're not accepting Balenciaga Cities, so I'm not sure where else there is to sell better Bbags any more :frown:

Don't know anything about selling, but is there no option to not have eBay or VC "authenticate" the bag? Like, to put the risk on the buyer?

I bought a WE from VC ($750 - just sharing cost since we're talking $500+) in May that was located in the USA (so shipping from the USA seller to my USA address) and they gave me the option to skip item verification, so I did... anecdotal, but maybe there is an option on VC USA?

If your item is over $500, it automatically goes to eBay before the buyer for authentication purposes
At least thats how they advertise it. They don’t say anything about verifying its condition
If its under $500, you can pay to have ebay do this if you want the authentication process, but I don’t know anyone who’s actually WANTED them to do this. I’ve had countless buyers reach out to ask me if there’s a way around it

it also seems like a crap shoot as to where it ends up
I sold a Balenciaga leather jacket last month and it went to a different authentication location (New Jersey I think) and they cleared the same day it arrived. This one went to Las Vegas

I think VC has adopted the same policy as eBay — anything over $500 can no longer be directly shipped

While I understand that they are just trying to protect the buyers from getting duped, there should be the option to forgo authentication if both the buyer and seller agreed to it
