The buyer actually contacted me almost immediately as confused as I was. She said they gave her the option to complete the purchase but before she could respond, they notified her that it had been cancelled.

ebay not only authenticates the item, they also check on the conditions, if too off, they will cancel it, if not too off, they would sent messages to buyer ask if they still want the item(s).

How do I know? Because I buy there frequently. I guess ebay consider your description is too off so they automatically cancelled the sale without even contact the buyer.
... her buyer still wanted it.

A lot of us buy (and sell) on eBay frequently, it's definitely hit or miss and you've gotten super lucky! :flowers:

That is not true to my experiences, Every Single Time Ebay had contacted me to let me know issues, the only times they cancelled orders without contacted me first were either inauthentic or way off to the listings.

This was one of them ebay cancelled automatically:

This doesn’t prove anything other than what eBay is being accused of: unilaterally cancelling transactions without substantiating their decision.

I had no idea what was going on in this conversation because in so many years ( since 2007) of buying and selling on ebay I have NEVER had a single note from ebay about the condition, authenticity, cancellation …. I just learned that this exists but I have never had anything similar. Very interesting to learn what is going on.

Very recent years (started 2021 I believe), only on certain brands, certain price point, certain items

FYI — the buyer of my Violet City just received her bag and was pleased. She called the color and condition “amazing” :sweatdrop:
Thankfully, we were able to connect outside of ebay and she bought it from me directly
When I got the bag back from ebay, I took photos AND video of every inch of the bag and sent them to her
But then get this — ebay sent me an email yesterday morning telling me they undercharged me for the UPS label I purchased when I shipped this bag. They claimed the actual weight was 13 pounds and I owed them another $12!:faint:

Thankfully, when I called them this time, I got someone who actually knew what they were doing and when he looked at it and looked at what I was selling, he said it was very clearly a mistake (he also said he thinks they flagged the bag because it was NWT — even though we’ve all purchased NWT bags that were less than flawless!!)! Needless to say, I’m pretty sure my ebay selling days are over after this

I hope this is the place to post this? Looks like it’s just on one track even though a general thread? Anyway is there a way to check if a bag is a city, part time, work? I recently got my first city but I need a bigger one already lol but don’t trust myself to look through VC and know for sure that I am getting what it says it is as far as model. Also some don’t have the model listed. I’ve had great experiences and know other sites would be similar. I’m just curious how to know we are getting the right kind.

I think what I really want as far as a larger version of the city is a work but I’ll still watch around and make sure :)

there's actually a few things you can look for
The serial (style) number thats on the tag inside the bag can usually identify which style it is
First = 103208; City = 115748; Work = 132110; Weekender = 110506; Twiggy= 128523

The measurements are another good way to tell (provided the seller includes accurate measurements)

You can find most style numbers and measurements here:

There's a lot of valuable information in our Reference Library too (pics of styles, colors, seasons, etc)

Part Time has a shoulder strap, like your City, vs. Work and Weekender don't, fwiw! :flowers:

You can check out the Clubhouse subforum for more photos too (here's the link for the Part Time club, which maybe you'd be into if you want to carry on your shoulder via the strap without dealing with stretching out the handles yourself).
