Absolutely no way to get a bag pulled for visual confirmation. Many years ago, they would actually pull a bag for specific photos, but those days are gone.

For those well wishers, hoping my purchase of the “would be,” 03 Chocolate City, would have a happy ending, I’m afraid it’s on its way back. Here are a couple of the photos that should have been posted.

Sorry Connie. I just posted a rant elsewhere about how ridiculous it is that they don't as a matter of course post photos of at least the front of the tag. There is no excuse for this omission. They sell very expensive bags and couldn't be bothered to post one photo of the inside tag, in their measly 4-5 photos allotted per listing. They routinely waste a whole precious photo on a super close-up of the inside black fabric liner, that tells you nothing, but not the all-important tag merely inches away from the sea of black fabric they focus on instead.

Exactly! Five minutes worth of Youtube videos would enable anyone to see that is a fake bag, yet these "authenticators" didn't catch it?
And if they can't be bothered to do their job, then post appropriate pics so the buyer can figure it out. One quick tag pic and the mystery would have been over: a kindergarten-level counterfeit.

The answer I got years ago, was,”No pics of inside tags because counterfeiters could use them.”

Makes sense, but only if the bags are always authentic.. so there’s that.
It makes sense only if 1. they were actually good at authenticating and only sold authentic, as you pointed out, AND 2. there was no other source of inside tags available anywhere else on the internet, and they were the sole custodians of that hallowed secret knowledge. They fail on both counts, in a scenario where only one failure is fatal

That makes sense I guess - but also for those that don't "know" the tags it would also show if they were selling bad merchandise.
I hate to think ill of people, but it makes most sense to me that fakes have a small chance of landing with someone who doesn't know the difference once in hand.

Speaking of folks who don't know the difference. I've seen more than one "Reposhed," fake on Postmark. So fooled someone at least once, and on to the second time.

So sorry @Conni618 ❤️

I was rooting for you that it wasn’t a fake since 03 Chocolate City is a unicorn. So annoying. I hope it’ll be an easy and hassle-free return and that you find the real deal sooner or later.
Thank you! It's back in their hands today, so fingers crossed I'll be refunded, and also that it doesn't pop up again on the site.

Even so, my bad as well. I should have known better. Love is blind.

100%. I just got a Chloe that is fake, and now I guess I’m stuck. I will NOT reposh this POS.

I know it’s not easy, but I think you can send it back. They are a super annoying site to have to deal with a fake, but it’s worth a try. Especially if you can snap photos of the comparison features with an authentic one. Unfair of course, to have to spend time on it, but they are collecting a commission, and have some responsibility. So aggravating. :yucky:

Aww nah. It’s easy to get carried away. Remember my fake black Weekender? I was in the same boat as you, hoping it was real while I await for it to arrive. And it wasn’t. Haha Lucky I got my refund and later found a beautiful 05 black Weekender.

I think even us seasoned Bal gals can make a mistake or two. We have to be quick when it comes to these hard to find oldies so there’s always a risk. Lucky we have the support and tools here on tPF. I feel bad for those who’s bought a Bal for a good amount of money, carry and think that it’s real and it’s not. Those I feel for.
