Hello, does anyone know which 2003 First colors came with the long strap? I have a few, but find that I prefer the longer strap and would like to seek out more colors with it if possible.. so far I just know that the emerald and mastic have it, but doesn’t seem like all of the 2003 Firsts do

I'll let others weigh in as well, but I think the straps were all long until half way through 2003. So black, caramel, mastic, emerald and white, and these bags did not yet come with the interior silver tag. The shorter strap coincides with the silver tag on firsts.

Thanks! I’ll wait to see what others say too, but I did just notice that my black pebbled Caribou First has a longer strap similar to my emerald and the mastic.. confirming again what you said, I just checked my fall/winter 2003 midnight blue, and that does have the shorter strap. I don’t think I have any others from 2002.. this would line up with what you’ve said so far though

I have a 2003 First with the long strap in Black.

I think we have some info wrong in the Bal Reference Library, since 03 Caramel is listed as a S/S color, which would have come with a long strap. I just checked my 03 Caramel First, and it's a D (03 F/W) tag with a short strap. Unless they released Caramel in both S/S and F/W of 03?

This is my longwinded way of saying I may have misstated that 03 Caramel has a long strap. If 03 Caramel only came out in F/W, it's the short strap version.

I have 03 dark caramel and the strap length is regular.
There was an 03 light caramel, and maybe that had the longer strap.
Light caramel would have been S/S and dark caramel would have been F/W, I would think.

This is correct. Made me crazy as I originally thought that Cities started in s/s 2003, so couldn’t figure out why my 03 black City, and 03 DC had shorter straps.

Only Firsts were produced in s/s 03, so just those those few Firsts with raised PH actually have the long strap. To complicate further, f/w 03 Firsts can have either an imprinted leather tag or the silver “D” tag. So a black or white leather tag f/w 03 could easily pass for a s/s 03, except for the regular length strap.

aaarrghh. Need to get a life! :sick:
