When I think of “cracking,” I think of the top layer of the leather peeling. I think that you are concerned about the deep crease near the corner? As Muchstuff said, that’s just leather doing its thing. I’m guessing that as you use the bag, the leather will soften up, and that kind of crease will also soften up and be less noticeable.
While waiting for some posts of comparison between black and anthracite.. This might sound like a silly one but I've been digging threads and going through rabbit hole for ages!

@muchstuff, does the hardware on both look the same to the naked eye? In the photos, the rose gold on the anthra looks rosier than the one on the black.
I don't know how much the grey leather influences how we see the the rose gold but I'd say the anthra was a bit rosier, the zipper for sure. But if you look at the bales etc. on the black they show rose gold. I've since sold the anthra so can't do a side by side comparison.
They both do look like rose gold. I've just noticed on various bags that there's a spectrum of rose gold, some more rosy than others.
Seems to be for sure. It's deffo a softer look than gold, I prefer it I think.
Totally agree. I'm more drawn to RG as well. It gives an instant retro-deco (note my obvious love for all things art deco) feel.
I've only bought the conditioner. It's a bit messy to use.
My 2009 Anthracite club bag had a greenish tinge. It's my understanding it varies from year to year.
