Singer Rihanna isn't afraid to go under the needle: she revealed that she likes to hang out in tattoo parlors after she was spotted at a Hollywood tattoo hotspot in January. Rihanna recently pulled an over-the-shoulder pose at a birthday party in New York to reveal a new set of stars. The Barbadian beauty has already shown her love for body art with four tattoos: a Pisces sign behind her right ear, a star in her left ear, a music note on her ankle and a Sanskrit prayer down her hip.
Pop singer Ashlee Simpson's parents were hoping she would kick her ink craze after getting "LOVE" tattooed on her ankle to celebrate her second album in 2005. The singer, whose first tattoo was a star, told People magazine that her parents were begging her not to get any more tattoos. However, the pop rocker debuted a new rose on her left arm in March, while promoting her third album, "Bittersweet World."
Hollywood hunk Ryan Phillipe flexed his arm, and new ink, while leaving a West Hollywood gym in March. At first glance it looked like a piece of a bald eagle, which would make sense considering the actor's soldier character in his latest war flick, "Stop-Loss." However, upon closer inspection the tat appears to be a phoenix rising from the ashes.
Few knew the face behind the name Diablo Cody when the edgy screenwriter walked down the Oscar red carpet in a leopard-print gown. But after Cody won the Academy Award for best original screenplay, the former stripper's picture was plastered on papers and magazines across the country. With her thigh-high split and prominent pinup tattoo, Cody, whose real name is Brook Busey-Hunt, was an unconventionally hip Oscar winner. The New York Post ran a picture of Cody on its cover under the headline: "Tat Girl." It also revealed that the roses weren't always there. It used to read Jonny's Girl, for ex-husband Jonny Hunt, but Cody had the words covered when the pair divorced.
