Please help!

I took my Prada saffiano double zipper out to wear today after a few months and was horrified when i saw these black spots all over the metal parts.

Prada%20saffiano%20double%20zip

I tried to clean it with baby wipes and that helps fade the spots but still did not completely remove them. The spots on the hooks even transferred onto the leather. I am beyond dissappinted by the quality of this bag. I bought it brand new at the end of 2012 and i always keep it in the dust bag and put it in my closet. I don't even know what to do right now. Ladies please give me your advice.

Thanks in advance.

I have a Prada bag with a split handle.

I was going to send it off and get the handle repaired/replaced, then sell it.

If I do this though could i still sell as authentic if a part is not Prada? Presumably if I mention I have had it repaired then thats still ok?

Would doing the repair though devalue the bag in any way? I was thinking if it did, I could sell with the split handle and allow the buyer to put this right if they chose to?

Thanks in advance

I just purchased and exchanges for another brand new Prada Saffiano Lux Tote BN2863 recently from Prada Gold Coast and unfortunately there is scuffing at the handle, the leather looks peeled off. If you touch it you actually feel rough surface or like a dent. It's a brand new bag and I have not even use it yet. When I inspect the bag inside Prada I didnt notice this mark and also due to the dim yellow light in the store its hard to see. Please advise what can I do with to treat this.

This is like a scuffing so a bag spa treatment may help it. However, have you gone back to your local Prada to ask about it?

The below is not my pic but a friend showed me how a bad scuff can be almost gone after a treatment. ImageUploadedByPurseForum1436078945.833792.jpg

can you exchange it again?

Yes I actually went to exchange and it's my second time. However thr is still imperfection. There is some rough surface, like peeling off. I sent in for SA to clean up and fix it for me..apparently it's not excessive glue. She claimed it's the saffiano printing, which I believe it's a kind of minor defect? But since it's pretty smooth now and not obvious so I just keep it. Refer for first picture for the scuffing problem and second picture after fixture. Let me know what do you think?

This is leather that has peeled off. If you look at 2nd hand bags, some have this greyish peeling off look at the corners of the bag. One way to prevent it is to do light moisturizing (some don't believe in it, but it worksfor me). We can only try to prevent it, but once scuffing has occured, it cannot be fixed. Please go back and exchange it again (even if you've previously already done an exchange). It's highly unlikely due to be saffiano printing. Because those spots look radically different from the other prints. I know because one of my smaller 'camera' sling bags have it, when it happened, I saw the leather 'tore' off because it wasn't completely peeled off yet.

This is how it looks like under better lighting. What do you use to do light moisturizing? Yes I was aware that any scratch or scuffing it can't be fixed. I actually brought it in yesterday for the store department manager to have a look and she tried to remove/smoothen it for me. And she later claimed that this is due to the saffiano print and this is as much as she can remove. Please refer to the pic below after 'fixing'. You can still see the difference though little spot.

When I exchanged it for the 2nd time last few days ago she said that it will be my final change as they can't keep doing exchanging for me. But it's not even written at their terms & conditions, the only thing in t&c is refund or exchange can be made within 10 days of the item is unused or not damaged. I wont be using the bag anytime soon it's brand new.

Am really disappointed with Prada store when it's peeling of the leather and the manager said it's printing problem and did not offer me an exchange or refund at all. My last day of exchange/refund is tomorrow. I have inspected 4 bags in total and the other 3 bags have been unsatisfactory, this is the best I have got after exchanging twice and I am actually quite frustrated as it's hard to inspect under their dim yellowish light in store and Prada store ia 56km away from where I live. I'm not too sure if it's worth to drive down again for an exchange or refund (I can't get refund back in cash but in store credit for 6 mths) OR just accept this flaw as it's at the back handle not so obvious? Sigh.

After she 'repaired' it in your second picture, I can't see anything wrong with it anymore. If that's the case then it might be glue marks. Prada usually only allows you to exchange once, and they will chop a FINAL EXCHANGE stamp on your receipt. I would say, from the second picture you posted in the previous reply, I can't see anything wrong with it.

For light moisturizing I use Apple Conditioner. And wipe excess with cloth. If it gets too 'slippery', I just use non-alcohol fragrance free wet wipe to wipe it down. It's so easy to take care, that's why I love Prada. Another fellow TPFer I read used Collonil delicate cream to clean etc.

I see, I am pretty lucky that the manager did nt chop any final sale or exchange but she did say verbally that it will be final. Well i just noticwd that second pic was hard to see. i had attached another picture which is more obvious and this is after fix picture, much better but thr are still two greyish tiny spots. I think most probably combination of glue and leather peeling as she can't remove them all and there are these greyish spots. What's your thought?

I just ordered Apple conditioner from Amazon and am wanting to use it on my work horse Prada vitello daino (been using for work on an almost daily basis for a year or so). I have noticed the handles showing signs of wear and definite corner scuffing/wear. I know this is entirely normal for leather purses to exhibit these signs (appears on my Coach and Dooneys) but I'm still a bit disappointed it happened on my Prada now. Anyway, hopeful those of you that have conditioned your Pradas can keep it looking less worn, and if any of you have used this conditioned on your Dainos let me know!
