I made the mistake of spraying my Prada saffiano leather purse with Apple Garde. Prior to my treating it, it was getting scratches here and there, but nothing too terrible. Afterwards, I'm seeing small spots of leather that appear "rubbed down" (flattened, rather than cross-hatched) and dull (the bag is somewhat shiny otherwise).

I took it to a local repair shop and they are going to recolor the rubbed spots to see if that doesn't help.

Aside from that, is it possible that the AG spray ruined the protective coating already on the bag? If yes, is there any way to get it back now?

Thanks all!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. You've ruined your bag. Saffiano leather should never be sprayed with Apple Garde or any other products. Try selling it "as is" on eBay or to a consignment, buy a new bag and call this a very expensive lesson learned.

Gosh, that really stinks.

Do you mind me asking why the saffiano deteriorates from protectant sprays? And what happens now -- is it easily scuffable from here on out?

Thanks!

You might want to take it to a cobbler to have it looked at. Someone here once posted that Chanel sources some of their repairs to Leather Surgeons. They are also on instagram and it's quite amazing to see some of the before and after. Maybe give them a try if all else fails?

Thank you for the advice!

I received it back today from a cobbler / purse spa place in town. It sure is a heck of a lot shinier again, and they managed to color over some of the lighter scratches, but there are a few small dull dots that remain on the front of the bag. They are minor and I don't think anyone else would notice them unless seriously inspecting the bag, but I can notice them and they still make me sad.

I think I am going to keep the bag until I purchase a replacement, and then likely consign.

Lesson learned.

I just wish I knew why this happened.

Hi all,

I recently had some decorating work done in my new home, which involved my doors being painted white. My beautiful Saffiano tote in argilla was unfortunately the victim to a paint splash, which I did not notice until the decorators left. It was stupidly my fault for allowing it to happen as I should have put it away. Below are some pictures of the mark it has left behind. I picked the paint off - as it had been left to dry but it has now left behind a very faint mark. Can anyone give me some advice as to what to do to get rid of the white mark? Will Prada be able to do anything?

TIA

I'm so sorry. I'd call Prada and ask them for advice. Please let us know the outcome.

Dear all, I'm new to this forum. I have a Prada Saffiano Lux tote in Tamaris. Previously I kept my bag in the closet and only used it once a while. Then one day (after 2 months not using my Prada), I wanted to use it, but to my horror, there was a lot of molds on it. It was this white spots all over! It think it is due to the high humidity in my room.

So I just wiped it with tissue, but after that i still can see some white spots on it, although it was less noticeable. My friend suggested me to wipe it using baby wipes, but i don't dare to take the risk. Any advise? I have non alcohol unscented baby wipes, can i use that to clean my bag?

I do have a picture of my bag but i can't find way to upload it.

I regularly use unscented baby wipes to clean my black saffiano. Dirt tends to build up around the handles from regular use or sometime I may spill coffee (don't judge). So I like to give it a once over every month or whenever I notice any dirt. I haven't noticed any negative effects of baby wipes so I'd recommend it. However, keep in mind mine is black so if there are (god forbid) color changes, don't blame me.

Ladies- I got several scuffs while traveling with my caramel saffiano double zip. The scuffs were noticeable because they were a lighter color. I used a small amount of mink oil and buffed them out. You can barely see them now. Thought I would share in case anyone else has a similar issue

Hi all, recently my dog chewed on my prada woc and it looks pretty bad. Ripped and teethmark on the sides of the wallet. I brought it into the prada store and they say they can't do anything about it :( is there anyway I could do to fix it?

You can probably get this wallet re-dyed, I'm sure, at a local cobbler as previously stated.

Hi,

I know this forum is old but I'm wondering if anyone experienced this as well, inside of the handle is cracking, is this normal?
