Summer 2010 H sale in Paris

I have just spoken with two different people in the Paris store. Both say that the date of the sales will not be released firmly until early next month--May.

Here are my thoughts. Given the fact that the formal sale period will begin June 30, if I had to make my best guess it would be that the Hermes sales will start on that same date--Wednesday, June 30. I cannot remember the sales ever beginning in July.

There are years when the Hermes sale begins on the same day as the citywide sales. Other years, the Hermes sales begin later during the formal sale period.

Given the information from various sources here so far, I would guess that June 30 would be the most likely date. But would I buy an airplane ticket based on that guess? Personally, not yet. I would prefer to have firm confirmation from Hermes directly. Please note that the "article" giving the dates is actually someone's blog site. I am not saying they are wrong...just that I would still be a little cautious.

I promise to continue to call FSH. I will report here right away as soon as someone from the store tells me directly that the date is confirmed.

ITA. I'm waiting on official confirmation from H before I book anything.

According to brieuc75 the dates are announced - the Paris sale starts 30th June .

He seems to spend a fair amount of his life in orbit around all things Hermes so I'm sure he's spot on and probably lining himself up at the head of the queue for 4am in the morning.

Hmmm, cheaper for me to fly to Paris than take the train to London - thought provoking! Volcanos permitting of course.

^^While this may be accurate, the information comes from a blog site and not from Hermes. Hermes is still publicly stating that the date has not been announced and will not be announced until next month.

It seems the most likely sale date. But readers here are planning to spend serious money on international air tickets and I hate to place any reader here at financial risk.

If I were a betting woman I would bet on the above date. But I can't in good conscience encourage any tpf member to purchase a very costly ticket before the dates are announced directly by Hermes!

Hi, everyone...this is a bit silly. The dates are June 30-July3. You can call 24Fbg, George V--whoever-- and depends who you get. Whichever TPF'er calls next, here's what I suggest you do.

1) Ask the standardiste to transfer you to the office/department/division that handles the sale. That's with whom I spoke. If you don't speak French, you may not get past the standardiste, but it's worth a try. If you get through, again use your best French and ask in your utmost polite manner.

2) If you can't get through to the division within Hermès that handles the sale, then you can try your favourite SA who probably is out of the loop. The sales are handled by a completely separate division/entity within Hermès. If your SA insists that the sale "hasn't been announced yet," then ask her VERY POLITELY, again using your best French if you could possibly trouble them, at their convenience, to perhaps call the sales division on your behalf. You wouldn't want to mistakenly by a ticket and you would be ever so grateful if you could impose on him/her to find a spare minute to perhaps offer some insight...at their convenience, blah-blah-blah. (speak French if you can)

It's funny about the post on Brieuc's blog. I know Pascal well and I concede that he is better connected than I (just slightly!) so if you don't believe me, then go with his information.

Honestly, I was just trying to be helpful by posting the sale date. I thought people would like to make travel plans. I've bought my tickets and am getting very excited. If the volcanic ash problems persist I will seriously consider a boat ride!! :)

Safe travels/planning to everyone.

Thank you all again for looking into this. I'm planning to be in Paris between June 25-July 1 and I'm very much looking forward to June 30th!

Now I'm just very curious as to what to expect. For instance, how early should I be there? What's the best way of getting to the location in the morning - is it easy to catch a cab very early in the morning? How many people are let in at a time? Do you get help from a SA (with scarves) or do you "dig through the bins" yourself? Do they accept cash or only credit cards? Hopefully some of the tpfers had a chance to attend previous Hermes sales in Paris and can share their experiences.. thanks in advance.

The metro starts quite early, so I don't think there will be any problems getting there, you can always take a cab if you don't trust the public transportation in Paris... Basically you dig through the bins yourself, but there is no problem asking the SA standing beside for help either. Credit cards are accepted.

There are few things I would like to share based on my experience in June 2008;

1. We have to declare any Hermes item(if we carry) before we enter the Sale venue. Fortunately I did not have any with me during that time. So I am not too sure what will they do if you have them with you.
2. They allow you to buy 10 items per person. I am not too sure if this is still the case.
3. they do accept major credit cards like VISA.

They will write your personal H items on a card and give it to you, you will then have to show the items and the card when you leave.

I am looking for a SO Kelly and am tempted by the sale in Paris. I have always paid full price from the Hermes shops before and never having been to an Hermes sale before am wondering whether it is likely that such a bag would be in the sale or is it just small items and scarves?
Thanks.
