I put my lunch in a lunch bag, and the bag goes inside my work backpack. I’m not a tote fan.

I bag-in-a-bag (I detest carrying multiple bags); just got this AMAZING FLAT WATER BOTTLE: 
I pack my lunch within a bag and throw it in my bag of the day - backpack or tote - I hate carrying another bag; I like to be hands free 
I don't put food containers in my handbag without some kind of cover in case of leakage. If it's a cold day I'll just stick my lunch in a small Moomin print waxed canvas bag, if it's warmer I dig out a small cooler.
If I am having a tote day, my lunch bag/cooler goes in the tote. If I feel like carrying a medium/small-ish crossbody, I'll just carry the cooler/lunch bag in my hand.

I take lunch every day in tupperware containers and ziplocs inside a children's type lunch bag and that gets dropped into my work bag. I leave water bottles at the office so I don't have to carry that extra weight daily.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a professional looking bag that I can carry my lunch in? I have been running into my boss in the elevator and he always comments on my lunch and how he thinks it is funny I bring from home lol. Right now I shove it in with all my other work things in the bag provided for me by my job and I also carry a handbag. They bag tends to bulge kinda funny as it isn’t very wide. I usually have to carry a laptop with me.
OT but I think your boss is kinda rude....maybe to make that joke once would be understandable but multiple times?
Anyway how about a nylon tote with a zipper?
Yes he has a bit of an odd sense of humour. He has meetings/lunches booked every day at fancy restaurants so doesn’t understand how “regular folks” operate. Any specific totes that would accommodate a laptop and some Tupperware for salad/sandwich?
If you like the idea of a tote, they are everywhere. I would go try some on to find the one you love that will fit everything. I love a Coach tote, but there are so many to choose from. You could tuck your lunch into a cute insulated tote. I have even seen some that are made to look like purses. You can do an image search in Google to see if any pop up that have the look you want. Have fun!
Use an insulated lunch tote that goes inside your bag or has a handle to carry alone. They have them for great deals during back-to-school, and such nice designs, or plain, to be more professional.
I use a Tory Burch Gemini Link tote to carry my lunch and drink bottle to work. It’s a decent size and would easily fit a laptop as well. It’s made from coated canvas so it’s really durable and care free to dump stuff in and run out the door. Mine still looks new after 3 years of using it everyday. Plus the price point is reasonable. There are a number of other Tory Burch totes that would probably also work well, depending on whether you prefer coated canvas or leather. Have fun deciding!!
I second the suggestion of the Le Pliage tote. They look professional and there are several sizes to choose from. They are also affordable.
