I found this Kate Spade Broome Street dress today and it's pretty comfortable. $48

I'm thinking this dress would fill the skirt spot I'm trying to fill.

Or should I just get a skirt?

It was also missing the ribbon belt, but I never use them anyway.

I also impulsively ordered a pair of red flats despite wanting black heels. [emoji85]

After this, maybe a pair of jeans? Then that would be it clothing wise. I didn't have many "holes" in the wardrobe to begin with. But I wanted to spruce it up with a few new things.

So next year, 5 items. Anything, within reason.
No bags, except a vintage from my birth year.
No clothes.
No shoes.
SLGs, undergarments, staple items such as pjs are on the ok list, but within my budget.

I think that's my goal for next year. We'll see if I have to tweak it.

Here's a bad pic of the new stuff

As you can see, the jacket looks more brown in the light of my room, but more reddish in the light of the store. I'll try to get a picture of it in the sunlight.

Black Burberry tee, I had gotten enough gift cards buying the Burberry jacket and the navy blue tee to pay for the black tee in full [emoji23]

And the black Kate Spade dress, with the navy blue Jigsaw blazer.

The shoes I ordered.

I was hung up on the price of the black pair I had ordered and returned. I'll just keep an eye out for black lol. Fingers crossed this will work out, the color would be so fun against a lot of my clothes!

Tbh, bake, if you would like a black skirt, keep looking for a black skirt. The dress is cute, but imo would not fill the wardrobe spot that a black skirt would. The $48 could be applied toward your perfect black skirt. [emoji6]

I like the idea of wearing a top over a dress to expand my wardrobe, but in reality don't do it much. I don't find it as comfortable as a top and skirt, and I don't like the extra bulk that it adds.

I agree with what Mimmy said. The dress is cute, I'd like it better if it was a skirt. Dresses always are tricky and if you have a bigger bust, the top shouldn't add more bulk which it kind of does with the buttons, even on the model. With a skirt you can wear tighter tops and give yourself the shape you want.
Love the shoes and the Burberry coat! Red or brown, it will be a versatile piece for cold or rainy days. The shoes are lovely and will go with a lot of your clothes. Black flats shouldn't be too hard to find, maybe you'll expand your outlook a bit to take other brands into account?

You two are right.

I'm busty and short, I shouldn't be adding bulk.

I'll look for another skirt and return this dress this weekend.

I'm expanding my look into other brands for the black flats but I guess I'm picky about how shoes are embellished lol. Gucci had a cute one, but wasn't fond of the snake. Or the elastic ribbon and bee on another.

Probably the right decision. I think I know which ones your taking about. Must be these first two ones. What about the other two?

I think I'll keep the KS dress to wear as a dress. It's comfy and cute and it fits!

I did find a skirt today.
Comme de Garçons

It's a navy hi-low, but not that obvious of a hi-lo. It's so comfy.

So I'm done skirt wise lol. Probably done with clothes tbh lol.

Cute. You'll get a lot of use out of this! I think you've made some very good purchases lately!

Just had an epiphany.

I wear things about 52 times a year for the most part. I wear an outfit once a week, wash, repeat.

Why do I own so many clothes? Shouldn't my clothes last 52 wears and washes? If they don't, why am I buying those clothes?
Same with shoes.

But I own way more than 7 days of clothing. I have 10 pairs of shoes I can wear once a week and still be appropriate for my environment and lifestyle.

That's not even including things I could wear repeatedly without washes, such as sweaters, or for different occasions that aren't daily occurrences. Such as cold/wet weather, parties, formal occasions. Those I'd wear like what? A handful of times per year?

Why do I own so much stuff? Will what I own last a year? I haven't worn many things 52 times. I usually get rid of it half way through, replacing it with a brand new set of things.

The challenge will be quite interesting. [emoji848]
