Oh mayfly can you really part with your Bayswaters? Especially as they may be phasing out the classic styles?
I do agree, the bays is a little bit heavy and I never use mine outside of work. But for me, they are just perfect for work. Saw Bridget Jones' baby where she carried her chocolate bays throughout and it made me realise that my bays and me are for life. I expect these bags to take me through my forties and fifties (am 37 now).
Shame about the lock on your graphite tarnishing. I will need to have a look at mine. Is yours still in warranty?
CP,,I,purchased choc bays as a result of seeing Bridget Jones baby! It looked fab in the film didn't it :-)

I read this thread with a lot of fun and pleasure - Thanks Ludmila :)
Even though I try to rationalize my handbag collection/addiction, still many around me think I am crazy with the number of bags I own..
Fortunately, my DH understands and is kind of supportive - Gives his opinion on bags and which one I should carry :)
Though, I am really trying not to exceed a certain limit.
DH bought me a cupboard where I store my lovelies and this is my limit - The space available there.
It helps me a lot as otherwise, I would have many more I think.
Though, I recently noticed that I could add a bag - A Balenciaga as they don't take that much space lying down hahahaha!
So I got a new addition to my collection
And I am back to 11 bags when I wanted to stay at 10..
I guess I am little helpless but at least, they all fit on the cupboard which now is "really" full :angel::biggrin:

Confess, what new lovely have you squeezed in? [emoji39]

Hello fellow squirrels! Last week was very hectic at work and I had to neglect this thread. Now that I am ill in bed and slowly on the mend I can finally catch up with you. [emoji4]

HA OMG dear Ludmilla, that squirrel pic is hysterically adorable!! You are not too nosey asking questions....I'm happy to share.
So my obsession with Bal took off like a runaway freight train (guessing many/most of you Mulb experts can relate!) I'll try to keep this brief & not bore anyone! I did experiment with various styles & I definitely learned which ones worked & were keepers, vs non-keepers. The biggest mistake i made was indulging in too many bags, too quickly & they tended to be all gorgeous colors that I loved, but I just wasn't using them much (or at all). Balenciaga is known for their incredible colors (amongst other reasons). It taught me that I'm mainly a neutral girl with bags & more comfortable carrying neutral color bags (I can use fun colors for SLGs or scarves, etc)...although there are a very FEW exceptions when it comes to colorful bags for me. My entire collection got too out-of-control large, where bags where not being used. I don't say that to brag in any way whatsoever....purse addiction is a struggle for me indeed! I felt uneasy having so many bags so that was the catalyst that got me into selling. So i ventured into the land of selling on ebay (at the suggestion of a friend) I think the keys for me in having success at selling on ebay & having the positive ratings that I get from buyers is because I take a LOT of time with clear/accurate pics & very detailed descriptions, along with answering any questions promptly & providing proof of where purchased (which I started keeping a few years ago). This probably sounds so basic, & it is....but I've seen plenty of listings that have the bare minimum with pics & info. I've been very fortunate in having wonderful buyers. Higher end purchases can take time to sell, so you have to be patient (which is not 1 of my virtues, but I have no choice in this matter!) I've never sold any bags with a consignment place (only because I've been lucky to sell on my own) so I have no experience there to offer anything...but I certainly see the advantages of using consignment. Hope that helps/answers your questions! SORRY gang for long reply!

Happy you liked the squirrel pic, Kendie. Like Pessie said I bet there are tons of chocolate in that pretty red bag.[emoji3]
Thank you so much for sharing your Bal story. Like you I like/need neutral colours in bags. I have many clothes with some kind of pattern, so neutral (aka brown in every shades) bags work best for me.
It's nice to hear that you had good experiences with ebay. It makes starting to sell less scary. I agree about the pics. Sometimes I really wonder why some sellers show blurred pictures.... Have you sold all bags that you wanted to sell, yet? And did yoz have seller's remorse? I can totally see me getting that. I once gave a bag to my sister and had to have it back after a few months. Now it is back in my wardrobe, but I have to admit that I do not use it frequently, though. [emoji85]

Omg the picture of the quarrel is just the BEST!!! We need car stickers made for us!!! Lol the secret handbag squirel club lol

Kendie to be fair I have been lucky with eBay and generally have happy buyers who have been happy with my myriad of photos and descriptions down to the last scuff or shadow even. I don't like to think of anyone being unhappy with my bags or anything to that matter so I would take mupine back if I had too but never had.

I have high standards and I think that's what sets the bar high. When someone mis-describes something it really gets me.

Last week I bought a Brand new Lizzie gunmetal glossy buffalo purse which goes with my Lizzie tote which was a nightmare to find and I do love her, just in spurts. Hoping the purse will bring back the live. Mr Panda was like :whut: when I told him why I'd bought the purse. He was like "oh so the seven other purses you had aren't quite the same then?????"

Oops,

Your new purse sounds lovely. Everything is allowed, if it brings bag the love of a bag. [emoji6]
Would you mind sharing a pic of the two. [emoji4]

Hello Gringach. Very happy that you enjoy the thread. [emoji4] I have enjoyed you family pic of your bags, too. Esp your Lexys. [emoji3]
11 bags is a good number, but I fear I will never get down to that number. [emoji85]
Hehehe. I think every bag addict rationalises their bag passion. It's nice that your DH bought you a cupboard for your bags. And I think it is an excellent idea to use it to keep your collection small. Have you posted your cupboard somewhere? Admittedly, I am a true squirrel as soon as it comes to storage. I have some bags under my bed, some in my wardrobe, some hang behind my bedroom door,... [emoji85]

I dream of getting down to 10 bags, dear Gringach! I'm trying to carry a few different bags for a few days each, to see how they work for me.
Thus far, my small oak Anthony is my "go to, sling around" bag (quick shopping trips, taking animals to vet, watching Leicester Tigers, standing on hockey touch line etc) whom I've somehow misplaced since my return from a few days away in Norfolk ... [emoji15] I took my shark grey, patent Mabel to travel with (she's an absolute Tardis, and so easy to find everything!) and my black Somerset shoulder bag for days out there. Both worked really well, so they're keepers!
My problem is going to be my Bayswaters; I adore them, but they're too heavy for everyday wear. I'm going clothes shopping with DD and her friend later (oh horrors!) so I may trial one of them and see how I get on ...

How did you enjoy carrying your Bays today?
I started to keep an excel sheet about my bags. The sheet helps me to see what bags do not get used this often. But, it also showed me that I use most of my bags (esp. my workhorses) more or less equally. So I have come to terms with the number of my bags. I think it is ok to have more bags than the average as long as I use them regularly.
I love my Bays, too. Agree about the weight. And I agree about possible sellers' remorse. Could not part with a Bays right now. Perhaps you can wear one of your Bays every Wednesday. We would be happy to see them on NY's thread. [emoji3]

I totally hear what you say re Bayswaters and I say that as someone who has just purchased her second. I don't find it a very 'user friendly' bag. After all of my purchases I have finally learned that I like a hobo type or crossbody. I am not a crook of the arm or handheld fan. That said, I could not part with my Bayswater(s) and I find if I use little and often I like it enough to enjoy it. What scares me with moving stuff on is that, like you ladies, my bags are loved and well looked after. If I were to sell something and regret it, the chances of getting something pre loved at a decent price in excellent condition is not always easy. Especially now that the GBP is unstable and the chances are that luxury items will continue to rise.

I agree with you. I am a satchel girl and need a shoulder strap to wear it crossbody. I would use my Bays more often if it would fit better over my shoulder. [emoji30]

Hi dear Ludmilla! I do have a few more I could sell (but I'm currently lazy about it!) & I don't really have any seller remorse...I would have liked to have kept a Bal or 2 based solely on their gorgeous color (& maybe I would have used them more now that I've ventured SLOWLY into a few colors here & there) but I tend to not like to hold on to remorse or regret in anything so I guess my "final answer" is no remorse!!

Hehehe Panda... Before being naughty have you used your Mitzi, yet? [emoji6]

Oh yes! Panda's Buckle is very pretty. I really like the Buckle Bays a lot. Now that it is discontinued. [emoji38]

Me too, can't manage shoulder bags too well

Hope you recover completely very soon, i spent 2 days in bed and 2 days working from and was totally recovered by the 5th day

Hi, dear CP!
Sadly I don't need a Bays for work atm but, as you say, I'm loathe to part with such an iconic style - for me, the Bayswater epitomises Mulberry.
Miss Graphite performed heroically around the shopping centre, although I don't think she'd work under Christmas shopping conditions - far too heavy/bulky/difficult to access when encumbered by innumerable shopping bags! I also found Miss Oak Bays VERY heavy on a day's shopping and sightseeing in London, so my conclusion is that they aren't for everyday carting around but are great for work!
I don't think the graphite bag is still under warranty, but I may get the lock plate replaced anyway. I certainly won't part with Womble, oak, chocolate, graphite or scribbly floral but I rarely use snowball or pumpkin and I've never used my putty, pistachio, ochre suede Cookie or preloved heritage pheasant. Hmmm ... More nuts, secreted away in their dust bags in true Squiggle fashion! [emoji6][emoji883]

Yowzer mayfly, I never realised you had that many bays! You truly are a handbag squirrel

Anything that NEVER ever gets used should be moved on. I love using naughtipidgins and moved on a few bags to promptly replace them with new loves. I don't think I will replace any of my current Bayswaters though. Chocolate and Oakie are used least often but still get used and are classics which I won't be able to replace, especially as NVT bays is £950!!

That's the point, CP; replacing them would be expensive and difficult, so I need to be certain that I won't have buyers' (or hoarders'?!) regret ...
But you are absolutely right - the bags which are never used need to go. I don't think I'll start with the Bayswaters, though; I may use them more if the other bags go ...
