This thread is really interesting. I have read MiniMabel's tips and I am the classic collector. I buy a bag I love. Use it for a week and then decide it like it but don't love it. Example in question is my aubergine mizty tote. Bought for £375, mint condition and I mean mint. I use it for a week and put a scratch on the mulberry metal disc on the front. I get cross with myself for doing it (the scratch) and she's not beeen out since. Fast forward a year!!!! And I'm loathed to sell her because she's purple, I love the texture of the leather and the type of bag bit and roomy, but I just don't see how it fits in to my needs. Yes, yes, I know I should sell her, but I know I won't get my money back so my brain says keep her and get rid in 5 years of I don't use her.... argh my handbag brain is just rubbish....

What's wrong with me.... argh...
Purple is a really great colour for autumn, so I'm another to say get her out and use her for a while, and see how you feel. They are very popular, I'm sure you'd recoup most of your money if you did decide to sell, and 1 honest scratch certainly wouldn't bother me on a great condition bag.
To get into the mood to sell another way to think of it is as 1/20th of your HG bag sitting unused in your wardrobe. If you have another half dozen or more 1/20ths lying around suddenly you're well on your way ;-)

My Mitzy had a scratch and it was the same for me, but she had to go and then I found out that M can replace the plaque, even on a Mitzy

Good point, I also think of it as £xxx or for some £xxxx sitting around the house doing absolutely nothing

There are so many different types of bag owners out there. One group - a very sweet and lovely one - are the squirrels that live on the Mulberry tree.

View attachment 3493689

Always good humoured, swishing and hopping through their busy life, full of energy and fun. In high spirits they collect the prettiest nuts - *cough* Mulberrys.

View attachment 3493691

Some squirrels have an impressive storage. And agonise with other squirrels about pruning their nut - *cough* Mulberry - collections.
As it is very hard for every squirrel to let go of nuts - *cough cough* Mulberrys - that might come in handy again, as we squirrels fear the hassels of selling our beloved items, and as we just do not know where to start purging I thought a Squirrel Support Thread would be a great help.

So here you are, fire away, squirrels. Tell your doubts about selling bags just before winter. Share your excitement about finally letting some of your unused nuts - *cough* Mulberrys go. Ask for and give advice, post your beloved keeper bags that you will never get rid off, confess new purchases (ups), help others to start selling and chat about life in general on and offside the Mulberry tree.

LUDMILLA!! Not only are the squirrel pics the cutest, but what a creative thread idea & creative writer you are!! LOVE this & LOVED reading everyone's comments.
I'm in a "very good place" with my Mulbs ....probably because i've known the brand for a much shorter time than all of you lovelies. (Balenciaga is a totally different story because I've been an addict w/ Bal for much longer than Mulb & I have DEFINITELY learned some lessons w/ the Bal addiction & having far too many of them that I ended up selling due to infrequent use...albeit it was "love at first sight.") I currently just have my grey Bays, 3 Lily's, a cosmetic pouch I use as clutch, cotton Fashion week tote & a french purse wallet. For now, that is the right size for my beloved Mulb collection.....HOWEVER, dear Panda MADE me go visit mulb website the other day & now I may be in trouble & it IS most definitely HER fault! xoxo

I see this bit as the most important. I recon I could have at least half of my HG bag with the amount I have sitting around.... argh. Thank god SLGs are involved or boots/shoes... I'm definitely living in squirrel nurkin towers right now. Lol x

There was a little ride, called Squirrel Nutty, at Alton Towers when my girls were very young - I used to gravitate towards that! I know why, now! [emoji270][emoji883][emoji270]

What a great thread, I loved reading your replies. We are all fairly similar I think. I have a 'fairly' large collection of bags, I still have 15 or so mulberry and a few slgs. There are a couple I think I will move on, a red Roxanne and a birds nest satchel. I have 'approx' 10 LV but numerous slgs. LV is my fave brand for bags at the moment. 5 Chloe, four of which are from the marcie family and a Chloe Faye, purchased last year used the grand total of two times. I'm embarrassed , this is like therapy. Two Chanel, one purchased new nine years ago from selfridges, black calfskin quilted classic. Hardly used. Then a pre loved woc from NPN in the camellia print. I love it, use it quite a lot. One YSL sac de jour and my Balenciaga
Hello, my name is NY and I am a bag addict. I'm pleased to be in such good company. I am always on the look out for something else/new. Bags are just my thing. There's worth things in life to be addicted too...right?

Will pm you with some hints and tips [emoji846]

Thank you, hun. Pm'd you back. Hope you got it. Since the tpf revamp my pm's seem to get lost..

My mother is queen of the squirrels, nothing gets thrown away! Her wardrobe is like the rings on a tree, as you work your way back you go back in time to the early 70's when my parents bought the house. I'm sure that has a lot to do with how I am now. I don't have a one in one out approach, but I can see how that could be useful. I'm definitely slowing down in purchasing new bags and I'm saving for my next. I did give in to a bargain recently, but I wasn't happy with it and it went straight back - I found that a good reinforcement/reminder to myself to keep on track to buy wish list bags only.

Oh, I wish I was disciplined like you and had not adopted my mother's habit of squirreling. [emoji16] The way you describe your mother's wardrobe is a great metaphor.
Buying only wishlist bags is a good way to stay on track. I am happy to report that I am on a good way here!

Aw, thank you dear Kendie. You are much too kind as always.
It's nice to have a former Bal squirrel visiting us on the Mulberry tree. [emoji4] As you had more nuts than you actually needed and as you have sold them successfully you can give us some great advice for sure. How did you decide what nuts - ahem bags - have to leave? Did you have multiples of a style to weed out? Or did you sell the styles that did not work for you first? How did you start selling your bags. Did you sell them slowly one by one or did you send a couple of them to consignment?
Sorry for my blunt questions. I am a squirrel that is wayyy too nosey.

Oh, I have found another squirrel pic. It's just perfect for that thread:

WOW! What a fab collection

Nothing to be embarrassed about, I am sure there are some that haven't used bags at all [emoji847]

It helps me take stock (including a reality check) and talking about values, my household insurance doesn't require me to notify them of anything valued less than 1k and most insurance firms are the same I believe, so I am ok as none of mine are worth that individually. So Sorry to go off topic...... but do any of you take pics of your nut collections (including receipts) in case anything happens to them and you need to make a claim?

Hello and welcome to the thread squirrel NY. [emoji4] You have a gorgeous nut collection! Do you feel content at the moment or are you lusting for more bags?
I have a wishlist with at least five bags that is constantly changing and growing. Bag window shopping and pondering next purchases are my favorite way to calm down or to distract myself from stress. [emoji3]

Lol, are scarves declarable? [emoji48]

Hehehe. Hopefully not. I have tons of scarves and I am waiting for another at the moment. Scarves are even worse than bags.

Hanging my head in shame... I have two of them. [emoji85][emoji87]

Hmm. No... Most of my nuts are not that expensive.
