It helps me take stock (including a reality check) and talking about values, my household insurance doesn't require me to notify them of anything valued less than 1k and most insurance firms are the same I believe, so I am ok as none of mine are worth that individually. So Sorry to go off topic...... but do any of you take pics of your nut collections (including receipts) in case anything happens to them and you need to make a claim?
No, I've thought about it once or twice but never got round to it. Very good point, and it's not just bags is it? there's all the other stuff we accumulate like computers and jewellery that trips over insurance limits.

I think about this too, I have a box with all receipts for, bags in it. Really I should take a pic of each bag and scan the receipt. I didn't realise over 1k you should declare. As for being content with collection, I look daily for new things. I blame the invention of iPad. Nothing to do with my lack of self control.

I keep receipts but not in an orderly way, and they often fade too, so scanning is a very good idea.

Hello and welcome to the thread squirrel NY. [emoji4] You have a gorgeous nut collection! Do you feel content at the moment or are you lusting for more bags?
I have a wishlist with at least five bags that is constantly changing and growing. Bag window shopping and pondering next purchases are my favorite way to calm down or to distract myself from stress. [emoji3]

Hehehe. Hopefully not. I have tons of scarves and I am waiting for another at the moment. Scarves are even worse than bags.

+1

Hanging my head in shame... I have two of them. [emoji85][emoji87]

Just the one for me, along with 1 purse, 3 key rings and 3 scarves

Hmm. No... Most of my nuts are not that expensive.

I doubt that [emoji846]

Best check your policy Hun

Ok so my multi quote didn't work

1 scarf on its way

1 bag unused, 1 purse, 3 scarves and 3 key rings all unused too [emoji51]

Thank you, hun. Pm'd you back. Hope you got it. Since the tpf revamp my pm's seem to get lost..

Oh, I wish I was disciplined like you and had not adopted my mother's habit of squirreling. [emoji16] The way you describe your mother's wardrobe is a great metaphor.
Buying only wishlist bags is a good way to stay on track. I am happy to report that I am on a good way here!

Aw, thank you dear Kendie. You are much too kind as always.
It's nice to have a former Bal squirrel visiting us on the Mulberry tree. [emoji4] As you had more nuts than you actually needed and as you have sold them successfully you can give us some great advice for sure. How did you decide what nuts - ahem bags - have to leave? Did you have multiples of a style to weed out? Or did you sell the styles that did not work for you first? How did you start selling your bags. Did you sell them slowly one by one or did you send a couple of them to consignment?
Sorry for my blunt questions. I am a squirrel that is wayyy too nosey.

Oh, I have found another squirrel pic. It's just perfect for that thread:

You are not alone in this tower, Panda! [emoji8]

HA OMG dear Ludmilla, that squirrel pic is hysterically adorable!! You are not too nosey asking questions....I'm happy to share.
So my obsession with Bal took off like a runaway freight train (guessing many/most of you Mulb experts can relate!) I'll try to keep this brief & not bore anyone! I did experiment with various styles & I definitely learned which ones worked & were keepers, vs non-keepers. The biggest mistake i made was indulging in too many bags, too quickly & they tended to be all gorgeous colors that I loved, but I just wasn't using them much (or at all). Balenciaga is known for their incredible colors (amongst other reasons). It taught me that I'm mainly a neutral girl with bags & more comfortable carrying neutral color bags (I can use fun colors for SLGs or scarves, etc)...although there are a very FEW exceptions when it comes to colorful bags for me. My entire collection got too out-of-control large, where bags where not being used. I don't say that to brag in any way whatsoever....purse addiction is a struggle for me indeed! I felt uneasy having so many bags so that was the catalyst that got me into selling. So i ventured into the land of selling on ebay (at the suggestion of a friend) I think the keys for me in having success at selling on ebay & having the positive ratings that I get from buyers is because I take a LOT of time with clear/accurate pics & very detailed descriptions, along with answering any questions promptly & providing proof of where purchased (which I started keeping a few years ago). This probably sounds so basic, & it is....but I've seen plenty of listings that have the bare minimum with pics & info. I've been very fortunate in having wonderful buyers. Higher end purchases can take time to sell, so you have to be patient (which is not 1 of my virtues, but I have no choice in this matter!) I've never sold any bags with a consignment place (only because I've been lucky to sell on my own) so I have no experience there to offer anything...but I certainly see the advantages of using consignment. Hope that helps/answers your questions! SORRY gang for long reply!

Omg the picture of the quarrel is just the BEST!!! We need car stickers made for us!!! Lol the secret handbag squirel club lol

Kendie to be fair I have been lucky with eBay and generally have happy buyers who have been happy with my myriad of photos and descriptions down to the last scuff or shadow even. I don't like to think of anyone being unhappy with my bags or anything to that matter so I would take mupine back if I had too but never had.

I have high standards and I think that's what sets the bar high. When someone mis-describes something it really gets me.

Last week I bought a Brand new Lizzie gunmetal glossy buffalo purse which goes with my Lizzie tote which was a nightmare to find and I do love her, just in spurts. Hoping the purse will bring back the live. Mr Panda was like :whut: when I told him why I'd bought the purse. He was like "oh so the seven other purses you had aren't quite the same then?????"

Oops,

I read this thread with a lot of fun and pleasure - Thanks Ludmila :)
Even though I try to rationalize my handbag collection/addiction, still many around me think I am crazy with the number of bags I own..
Fortunately, my DH understands and is kind of supportive - Gives his opinion on bags and which one I should carry :)
Though, I am really trying not to exceed a certain limit.
DH bought me a cupboard where I store my lovelies and this is my limit - The space available there.
It helps me a lot as otherwise, I would have many more I think.
Though, I recently noticed that I could add a bag - A Balenciaga as they don't take that much space lying down hahahaha!
So I got a new addition to my collection
And I am back to 11 bags when I wanted to stay at 10..
I guess I am little helpless but at least, they all fit on the cupboard which now is "really" full :angel::biggrin:

I dream of getting down to 10 bags, dear Gringach! I'm trying to carry a few different bags for a few days each, to see how they work for me.
Thus far, my small oak Anthony is my "go to, sling around" bag (quick shopping trips, taking animals to vet, watching Leicester Tigers, standing on hockey touch line etc) whom I've somehow misplaced since my return from a few days away in Norfolk ... [emoji15] I took my shark grey, patent Mabel to travel with (she's an absolute Tardis, and so easy to find everything!) and my black Somerset shoulder bag for days out there. Both worked really well, so they're keepers!
My problem is going to be my Bayswaters; I adore them, but they're too heavy for everyday wear. I'm going clothes shopping with DD and her friend later (oh horrors!) so I may trial one of them and see how I get on ...

I totally hear what you say re Bayswaters and I say that as someone who has just purchased her second. I don't find it a very 'user friendly' bag. After all of my purchases I have finally learned that I like a hobo type or crossbody. I am not a crook of the arm or handheld fan. That said, I could not part with my Bayswater(s) and I find if I use little and often I like it enough to enjoy it. What scares me with moving stuff on is that, like you ladies, my bags are loved and well looked after. If I were to sell something and regret it, the chances of getting something pre loved at a decent price in excellent condition is not always easy. Especially now that the GBP is unstable and the chances are that luxury items will continue to rise.

I have Miss Graphite Bayswater with me now - although I'm rather concerned to see that the bottom lock plate has tarnished!! [emoji15] Not sure what to do about that - I've barely used this bag but I've owned her for more than a year ...
I agree with you, NY2005; I don't want to sell and have buyers' regret - especially since my bags are (bar tarnished lock plates!) immaculate and fab leather. Also, I don't really want any of the new styles!

Oh mayfly can you really part with your Bayswaters? Especially as they may be phasing out the classic styles?
I do agree, the bays is a little bit heavy and I never use mine outside of work. But for me, they are just perfect for work. Saw Bridget Jones' baby where she carried her chocolate bays throughout and it made me realise that my bays and me are for life. I expect these bags to take me through my forties and fifties (am 37 now).
Shame about the lock on your graphite tarnishing. I will need to have a look at mine. Is yours still in warranty?
