Spend threshold for B/K/C

Imo it’s all a crapshoot/game of dice. There are no hard numbers because every boutique and its clientele and the sas and sm are different. There are so many factors at play. There is no magic number and one will just drive themselves crazy trying to figure it out. I do believe, however, that there is something to be said about being a client who spends regularly and doesn’t treat their sa poorly and is patient and has a genuine interest in and love for what H has to offer.

I know people who have gotten offers at less than 1, 1:,2:,3:, and 4:1 and even 9:1 in the last year in competitive us boutiques. The 9:1 was for a same day offer. I know people who didn’t buy jewelry or a watch and received a neutral bag.

For those new to H, you may want to consider how your spend might be setting the tone for what the sa expects you to spend for future bags. So if you’re spending 5:1 for your first offer, your sa may very well expect you to spend at that level every time . . . or maybe not because as I said it’s all a crapshoot.

It’s really best if one doesn’t pay attention to spend and just enjoys the experience and buys the things they love. It can be pretty competitive out there and it never used to be this bad pre pandemic. Before the H craze I could acquire a bag from my boutique at 1:1 spend.

I think the imaginary quota system does indeed build entiltement and competition becasue everybody would likes to be offered bkc with less spending. There are tons of videos out there with lucky inviduals who spend 1:1 or even less and gets 25 birkin or 25 kelly without any trouble. I just started the hermes journey last month with my mom at a Hermes store last month and I belive my SA is a truely wonderful person that connected us with really well. In our first visit she offered us a 18 piction in gold and during the second visit she offered us mini constance in ostrich, birkin 30 in blue crocodile and kelly 25 in dark red matte finish corcodile. Currently our quota is 2:1 with those bag offers but sadly none of offers were perferred combinations. Neverthless, I really feel grateful towards my sales for offering those bags because my spending threshold is obviously below the eligiblity of being offered exotic skins bag. After declining those bag, our sales kindly requested us to fill out a wish list and text message it to her.

Not my first offer, just generally curious.

Can a Singaporean answer this? I feel as though if there were any place in the world where you could drop, let’s say, $75K, and be guaranteed a B25 offer, people would flock there (yes, very privileged people).
I’ve spent a lot of time in Singapore but it’s never made sense to shop H there when one lives in Paris LOL. But there are a LOT of resellers there…..

I have shopped in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hawaii, France. Have friends in HK.

Indonesia - buy a pair of oran and be eligible to buy a display bag (non quota). Quota needs to wait for 2 years at least. Didn’t bother to find out threshold.
Singapore - buy around sgd16k (2021) and now I heard it’s 20k to be eligible to q for a quota bag.
Malaysia - SA said threshold 2:1 up front.
Hawaii - no threshold but be offered following trip after spending.
France - no threshold. Depends which boutique.
HK - SA said 1.5:1 up front for mini Constance.

Disclaimer: Quotes are indicative, at 1 point in time and may not be the same for all.

I also have read that some get offers and/or by increasing their spend but some did not.

Thank you for sharing your shopping experience from different parts of the world.

I think many people who shop at Hermes in other regions fail to realize that their individual shopping experience is just that: individual. Just because no "pre-spend" was required at Person 1's home store in the "US/UK/<insert European country here>/some place in the middle of nowhere" doesn't mean pre-spending isn't happening elsewhere in the world. It's been reported many times over that it has been a requirement in certain countries, and the SAs/SMs in those locations have been upfront about that. There have even been instances in the US - where the public line has been "no linked sales" - where some SAs have hinted that some pre-spending is needed to obtain certain bags.

I think it depends on one’s strength of relationship with one’s SA and the boutique, part of which is being relatively low maintenance and amiable and part of which is love of the brand and spend.

Was I eligible for a special b25 before I reached 5X. Sure, but a bag didn’t come in yet that my SA thought would be perfect for me, and I didn’t have a specific combo in mind. So I simply bought what I liked (and could afford) irrespective of spend ratio. (I rejected several other offers along the way, including B30s and exotics). By the time my gold B25 sellier, phw, came in, I happened to be at roughly 5X.

Just like with my friends and family, I find it best for my mental health, not to have high expectations of my H SA or feel angry or entitled. Bc shopping should be more than just pleasant; it should be fun, joyous. My SA does the best he can, and he is under a lot of stress. I can be patient. With that attitude, I will always be happily surprised.

happy New Year all! We are all very very privileged to be on this thread, on TPF :)

@killuakanmuru This sounds like you shop at my store. My store is known for offering exotic bags and there was an influx of exotic offers in November and December. From what I heard, SA do get some commission for Exotic QB. I'm not interested in Exotic bags and I made it clear to my SA from day one.

As someone has mentioned, the number of clients the SA has also plays a factor in how fast you get your QB. I referred 3 clients to my SA, by the 4th one, my SA declined. He/she jokingly said "Don't you know it will be harder for you to get a QB if I get more clients?"

This.

I would add that good relations with your SM is helpful, too.

I have spent six figures in the distant past on a wide array of H items including B/Ks — nowhere near that nowadays/past few years as I now have plenty of things and am not pining for anything. In 2022, the only item I bought was a B30 (SO) — still got a random phone call last week asking me which H items especially B/Ks I have on my wishlist including question about potential desirability for another SO…which supports @880 comments above.

Hi all! Not sure if anyone would know the answer to this.

I received my first Qb today in my dream specs (K25 sellier with palladium hardware). In the same visit, I purchased a watch for approx 6k. I am curious if that 6k would go towards my next prespend as I have heard that after you receive a QB your prespend “resets”. Does anyone have insight on this? It was a big purchase for me so I am hoping it will count. Not necessarily interested in another QB any time soon but I would hope it doesn’t count as “zero”

Thank you

I have been told all spend counts. I don’t know if quota spend resets for certain categories but if I buy other items when receiving a quota bag i ask to process the quota bag first on its own receipt for easier record keeping for insurance and then I buy the additional items on a second transaction.
Ah interesting, I should have done that! Thank you for letting me know… next time! Hopefully there is one :)

Hello, Do you have an idea about the ratio at the Faubourg Saint Honoré store? I'm curious to know specially for K25/B30/B25 and C18
You might want to read the Paris thread for more info. https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/paris-trip-for-hermes.457159/page-2366

No ratio if you can get a bag appt or if you have a regular FSH SA with whom you can make an appt.

I have a regular FSH SA. Last year, in two separate appts, I accepted a K25 ( no prespend) and a K28 quadrille. My total spend was significantly less than 1:1 bc the RTW I wanted wasn’t in my size or could not be tailored successfully as per the FSH tailor. i also accepted a 25B from my local store (significantly higher spend), in between the FSH offers.
