Spend threshold for B/K/C

When I asked my new SA about what I need to do get one, she mentioned QB bags work on a waitlist system and once they are on my profile is just a matter of waiting till one arrives. She said in the meantime just to buy what I love and don't need to spend on high ticket items as H has varying price points across all categories. This seems to counteract what others have said that big ticket items are key to getting an offer.
No matter what anyone says here, always listen to your SA first. Keep your expectations realistic, and make sure your SA knows what they are. Have fun

ETA : a B30 should certainly be attainable at the boutique, but don’t forget to check authenticated reseller bags. Resale prices are softening.

Would love to get some opinions/advice. My husband and I have been shopping at Hermes since 2009 - small things throughout the years in the US, bracelets, scarves, shoes, etc. Never asked for a bag in the US because didn’t think it was possible given low spend, but have bought multiple bags (2 birkins, Kelly, mini bolide, Halzan, Constance) in Paris on trips every couple of years. Finally started shopping with 1 SA in the US over the past 1.5 years and probably have a spend at 1-1.5x. Have asked for a gold birkin 30 and the SA keeps saying they are trying to get one, don’t see them often, etc. Had said would probably get one before fall anniversary, then Christmas but still not coming up. Do you think it’s a matter of not spending enough or it just really takes that long? Thank you!!

I’m guessing it’s a bit of both. Interestingly I haven’t seen very many gold B30s on any social media over the last six months. I’m guessing they aren’t getting many/any and when one does happen to come in, someone beats you out on the profile review. If I were you (and assuming you are completely set on those precise specs) I would just continue to visit, monthly if possible, spending 1k per trip and keep inquiring about the bag. If pressed though, I would bet this was a strict “inventory doesn’t exist” problem more than a “she doesn’t qualify” problem.

At least in Europe a few were sold in December and January. Waiting time is around 1,5-2 years.

I’ve been in H journey for almost 2 years and had qb offers (I make purchase on a monthly basis). From your experiences, do you all think the pre spend level for K/B goes lower gradually, over the years due to the “proven loyalty”?

For reference, I’m in the states (west coast)
I have been told it “gets easier after the first bag” but not sure I’ve experienced “easier” after my first bag 😂😂

Hi everyone,

I’m relatively new to H (started last May) and this is my first time posting on this thread!

Recently, my SA explicitly told me the spend amount required to meet the criteria for a mini lindy and mini Constance. This was the first time she said this to me over the past ~year and she always knew I was interested in both. She literally took out her phone, showed me my profile, and calculated for me how much I have spent that counts towards prespend and how much more I need to spend.

She also said that if I have a mini Lindy, my prespend will reset and I need to spend $x to meet the criteria for a mini Constance.

My question is, is it usual to have these kind of direct prespend conversations in North America? And is it true that prespend for a mini Constance resets if I accept a mini Lindy?

I felt very awkward when having that conversation as I wasn’t expecting it and she asked me to make a decision on the spot. She also has never offered me any bags over the past ~year. I am located in Canada.

Thanks!

This is extraordinarly odd in North America. I would actually presume that your SA would be fired if you relayed this experience to management.

That being said, yes, other coveted non quota bags “use up” prespend. It’s not supposed to be so black and white though so I would feel very uncomfortable continuing with this SA, especially if the directness isn’t your preference.

Welcome!

Wow! I guess first of all, "congratulations" that at least she is being honest and upfront with you. I would actually appreciate that transparency, personally.

At least now you know there is a finite goal, instead of guessing and/or the goal post always moving--and you have a reference conversation to hold her to. Most people on here have to play the game of guessing and hoping if they've spent enough yet, and working towards an imaginary pre-spend number that could be dynamic based on countlesss factors.

I dont know much about Canada H, but to address your last question(s)...how much pre-spend did she tell you was needed for the Constance and Lindy, respectively?

She did tell me I did meet the criteria for a mini Lindy and if I choose the mini Lindy, she will let me know as soon as she can get one in my specs. I am not at the criteria for a mini Constance yet.

So I’m worried that if I switch SAs, I won’t even get a mini lindy. She said it while there were other clients somewhat near me, so I felt a bit uncomfortable / embarrassed as if I didn’t know. She’s been pretty nice so far, except for this past visit where she was this direct, so I don’t really want her fired/in trouble.

While I generally love your advice when I shop in the US, I am not too surprised about this anymore. When I was in the JFK airport earlier this year, the SA in the store told me how much (approximately, not exactly) I will need to spend for a Constance bag. The 2 SAs in Vegas also told me the specific ratios (e.g., 1-1-ish) for B25. I think some SAs in the US are revealing at least...? I mean, I am glad that I am not the only one experienced this. 🙄

The thing is, at the end of last year when I asked her about mini Constance, she said she could get me one early next year, as there weren’t any in my specs at the moment. She asked me to remind her in the new year. This year, when I reminded her, she kept telling me no stock. Then this most recent visit she told me the criteria and I wasn’t there yet. When I brought that conversation up, she just ignored it really, so I’m worried even if I spend more to hit her specified amount, she may change again.

For mini Lindy it was 7-8k, mini Constance 11-12k, Kelly 25-30k.

In my experience, Vegas stores have always been very direct about this sort of thing. Even over a decade ago they would tell you straight up "yes, I have a Birkin in the back and if you bought that bracelet you could see it". An SA at Bellagio told me it's because, with the exception of casino high roller regulars, almost all their clientele is transient and anyone who walks in is likely to be a one-time spend, so they need to meet their sales goals.

I have also noticed that airport stores will "auction" a Constance if they have one - there are multiple reports on this forum of this happening specifically with Constance, because it's generally by far the most desirable bag airport stores receive - this also seems to be related to the "customer in the hand" philosophy.

Besides Vegas, has anyone else experienced this directness at another boutique as a regular client?

Airport stores are different. They aren't intending to create relationships or on-going clients. It's not strange for them to be more direct since the spend is now or never.

Well, the good news is at least spend ratio is "only" 1:1 for the Lindy. Not sure how competitive your store is, but seems the Constance and Kelly ratios are about 1.4:1 and 2.5:1, respectively. But still seems a bit strange.

Maybe follow-up with an "inquiring" text message to her saying something like "hey I know I am only at $xxx spend, but since you said I'd need $11.5k spend for the Constance, does it matter how fast I achieve that spend?" That way at least it's on paper...that way, she can't convenient forget it. Depending on if/how she responds, will give you a definite answer as to if she is fickle or not.

Not as a regular client, but I have had that direct conversation as a visitor at a main boutique (not airport store).
