I wouldn't say prespend necessarily resets, as it would still count in terms of the SM approving a bag. But you would be starting from scratch with the new SA, who has his or her own clients and your prespend with the new SA is, for all intents and purposes, zero. Now, maybe the SA shows you some goodwill under the circumstances and cuts you a break, but it's ultimately up to them.

It probably would have been a good opportunity to ask the SM about your existing prespend with the old SA when the SM assigned you the new SA. Maybe you can still have that conversation. It wouldn't hurt for the SM to be in the loop as to your expectations. And, taking it a step further, it might be good for the new SA to have that on his or her radar too.

2. My wishlist is a B30 with GHW in any neutral colour. When I asked my new SA about what I need to do get one, she mentioned QB bags work on a waitlist system and once they are on my profile is just a matter of waiting till one arrives. She said in the meantime just to buy what I love and don't need to spend on high ticket items as H has varying price points across all categories. This seems to counteract what others have said that big ticket items are key to getting an offer.

3.I am worried that I can not financially keep my pre-spend high enough per year to compete with others at my store. I can do it gradually with smaller spends here and there but I can't drop $15K in one go and then have enough money for a QB relatively soon. It feels like I may never get one as my pre-spend per year never gets that high.

4. Any tips/ suggestions would be helpful to keep me from getting discouraged including categories to spend and how to pace my purchases in 2025.

Your SA is not wrong. I agree to focus on what you like.
In theory you are in competition with your SA’s clients, but that’s only if you want a bag fast and want two QB a year etc.
If you shop smaller items and buy at a slower pace, it doesn’t mean no bags. It probably takes longer and more patience. H does favor long standing clients. Big ticket items are key to getting bags “fast” or “faster”, not necessarily the only way.

3. You can get a B30 in neutral colors around 25k or less nowadays from the resale market. I agree with other’s advice. If shopping in the store and prespend worries you too much, it really makes way more sense to look in the resale market. That way you know exactly which bag cost how much and can get your exact specs.

If I were you, I’d buy a bag from the resell market first to satisfy my desire for a bag. Meanwhile, I would spend slowly at store with the new SA. This way my prev prespend didn’t go to waste.

On the good note, I feel QB offers have relaxed a bit. It’s been less competitive than 2021-2023. Plenty good offers on this forum and everywhere I look.

TBH, maybe go through the preloved market if you are only after a QB. It's really not worth going to financial distress. Hermes is not cheap or for the feint of heart. But if you really, truly like the other "stuff" then I'd say just keep going nice and slow. Personally, I love scarves and find those easy to acquire one or two a year without feeling like I break the bank.

From my experience, yes prespend does reset when you suddenly get a new SA.
Thank you so much for your answer. I am not interested in getting one from a reseller. I do like the Hermes journey and I like a lot of their pieces across multiple categories. I am just worried that I can not keep up the same amount of $ in the same amount of time as others at my store. I guess it's going to be a very long journey for me.

Thank you so much for your answer. How would I go about having such a conversation with the SM? I don't want to come across as desperate or entitled either. I feel like in the H world at the store, mentioning pre-spend is frowned upon. I know upon my first visit with my new SA, she did pull up my account and looked it over and showed me all my purchases.

Thank you so much, your answer is very detailed. I do not need a QB bag a year but I am coming up on my third year with H and I would like finally this to be the year I get one. I have heard that an account only shows purchases up to 2 years so I would assume I would lose any of my purchases made in 2023 if the SM were to look at my account. On # 3, I am not really interested in getting one from a reseller. I do like the Hermes journey and I like a lot of their pieces across multiple categories. I scored 2 non QB bags last year that made me really happy so I don't need that immediate gratification. I am just worried that I can not keep up the same amount of $ in the same amount of time as others at my store which may result in never receiving a bag. If pre-spend is technically considered all relative to others spending power in the same amount of time, then it feels I will never come out on top and my profile will always look weak. If others get to 2:1 in 1 year but I get to 2:1 in 3 years do I ever have a chance? At what point do I stop spending and just wait for the offer to come?

I believe they only look back 2 years so you would need to be at a competitive spend within 2 years.

I think if you keep buying what you like even in small ticket items you will likely get a QB eventually. It probably takes longer to get an offer when the SA thinks you are only after 1QB and doesn't have the potential to grow into a long-term client (hence why they prefer people who get to the pre-spend ratio in a shorter timeframe vs. longer) but you never know. Best bet might be to ask your SA directly on what realistic timeline might be to expect a QB based on your profile and see what she/he says (they won't really promise anything but sometimes you can tell from their tone if you are getting close or really far off on the list).

Got you. In this case just be patient. I believe I read that someone got their bag last year after 3 years wait. It is always possible, as long as you stay in the “game”. lol

Giving up = game over, in an essence, however much one hates it..

The thing is.. you cannot really stop. Keep going in, no matter the spend.. buy domestics etc if you have to.
I feel it’s been easier lately. Hang in there. It will happen. :amuse:

I think the problem with the pre-spend discussion is that it tends to skew the corollary timeline factor. Assuming you aren’t in the ‘difficult customer’ category, I think BKCs are available; the problem is the length of time you’re willing to wait, and what interim events may occur at your boutique while you’re waiting (e.g. staff changes, new policies).

The timeline for most people focused on pre-spend is, IMO only, somewhere between ‘my next boutique visit’ and ‘soon’ (by the end of this year, by my milestone event, by next year). In that context spend matters, Hermes would like to keep its VIP clients happy.

If you’re content to indicate your interest, continue to shop at the level at which you are financially comfortable, and purchase things that you love, at some point you are likely to be offered a BKC. The reason I and others often suggest pursuing the reseller route is that most people have some, even vague, timeline in which they would like to have the ‘boutique experience’. The problem is that timeline doesn’t always line up with Hermes’ timeline. Hence the frustration.

I think this is the most accurate assessment, summarizing the whole situation. I don't know how things work in State, but for Paris, this summer was the first time in years that things progressed correctly for me, step by step.

The week I bought a bandana and a Kelly belt, a Picotin 18 arrived.
A week later, I got 5 dessert plates, a cup, and then a Constance Élan came.

In October, I purchased a Kelly belt, a t-shirt, a cashmere jacket, a cashmere scarf, and a missing dessert plate, but I left empty-handed. This was because the SM pointed out that I had already purchased two bags. Honestly, I would have liked to know what would have been offered based on my October spending.

Ironically, the color, leather, and hardware I want are very specific. It probably would have been easier (and I might have spent the same amount) if I had bought from a reseller. But I want to experience the purchasing journey, so I’m waiting.

I’ve been in H journey for almost 2 years and had qb offers (I make purchase on a monthly basis). From your experiences, do you all think the pre spend level for K/B goes lower gradually, over the years due to the “proven loyalty”?

For reference, I’m in the states (west coast)

I “heard” that eventually it does, but it still depends on luck. For example, the availability of the specs you request.

I’m in my fourth year. Although the ratio hasn’t lowered yet, the offers got better, I guess.
