Spend threshold for B/K/C

Thanks for the explanation. I am not really waiting for a QB (K/B) though, as I’m more interested in MC and ML only. Do you know how that pre-spend/delay works if only non-QBs?
What I meant to your comment earlier on people getting non-QBs while waiting for QB is that either way the non-QBs like a MC and ML will require pre-spend - just a matter of whether it's done separately (like in your case) or as part of your overall pre-spend while waiting for a QB. If your SA were that explicit, I think her words are the best to go with for you vs. anything you read here on pre-spend for non-QBs (which generally aren't that explicit in the US ex. some large tourist stores).

My question is, is it usual to have these kind of direct prespend conversations in North America?
Hi! Welcome! I recently had a similar conversation with my SA when the topic of the MK came up. He has never mentioned the word “spend” to me since I began working with him last March. When I recently mentioned a MK as part of my wishlist he was very clear about spend being a factor in receiving an offer. This is at a store in the US.

In my case, shortly after my initial intro and meeting with him in March with minimal spend, I was offered a B25 in exact specs requested. So this new mention of “spend” came as a surprise and only in reference to a MK.

I think more and more we will see or hear of SAs being upfront with clients on prespend.

If I were you I would sign up for one of those online services that provide notifications when bags drop and get a mini Lindy online on H Canada. It will take a while because they don’t appear as often, but at least it won’t use any of your prespend. Check with your friends that shop at H there if they know. In Europe they don’t care, but apparently in the U.S. some managers check the bags you’ve been buying online.

As for the Constance, I don’t know how is resale in Canada, but in the U.S. I only buy bags that are not B or K on resale, H online or H abroad. Resellers in the U.S. are selling new Constance these days close to retail. If you are close to the border, you can always go to a hotel and have a U.S. reputable reseller ship it to a U.S. address there. I heard at CDG in Paris that the prespend in the store was 6.000 euros.

You might want to only buy in the boutique, so I would try to do combination of boutique for Constance and online for ML. If you do that, I think it would be best to get whatever quota you aim for for B or K (1 or 2), and then ask for the other bags towards the end of the year and try to get one or both before the year is over.
Thanks will try online. I have bought online before actually, but I find we rarely have any of the classic colours unfortunately 😭

There’s no big reputable resellers that I know of in Canada, but I also don’t like to buy second hand. I want the feeling of buying it brand new in store 😅

in your case, did he mention exactly how much to spend as well? Maybe this is a new policy this month to mention prespend?

Ugh. I have to admit I hope this isn’t a new thing all SAs do - it can’t be right? I do not want my SA to start talking about spend. It will ruin the magic and then I’ll know how much I’ve spent which I prefer to ostrich from.
For me it honestly it did not feel like a luxury experience at all. Being shown numbers of each of my transactions then using a calculator to calculate the amount was very awkward.

Well, the good news is at least spend ratio is "only" 1:1 for the Lindy. Not sure how competitive your store is, but seems the Constance and Kelly ratios are about 1.4:1 and 2.5:1, respectively. But still seems a bit strange.

Maybe follow-up with an "inquiring" text message to her saying something like "hey I know I am only at $xxx spend, but since you said I'd need $11.5k spend for the Constance, does it matter how fast I achieve that spend?" That way at least it's on paper...that way, she can't convenient forget it. Depending on if/how she responds, will give you a definite answer as to if she is fickle or not.

Not as a regular client, but I have had that direct conversation as a visitor at a main boutique (not airport store).
Do not put anything about spend in a text- that is not going to be received well…jmo

Haha, I guess some people like to play the "game" and some people don't. Some people are type A and some are type B.

For me, I think it could be great if you had an identifiable goal to aspire to, instead of a moving target. I guess I like to think of it like I think of business, with KPIs and an ROI.

I would also remind you that time should also be a consideration. If you accept a bag, any bag, I think it is natural for your SA to think “ok, xxx is happy”, now on to my next client to make happy”. I do think that what makes the Hermes SA a great one is their genuine interest in making a client happy. So as the client, make sure you know what you are really shooting for that will make you happy!

Hi everyone,

I’m relatively new to H (started last May) and this is my first time posting on this thread!

Recently, my SA explicitly told me the spend amount required to meet the criteria for a mini lindy and mini Constance. This was the first time she said this to me over the past ~year and she always knew I was interested in both. She literally took out her phone, showed me my profile, and calculated for me how much I have spent that counts towards prespend and how much more I need to spend.

She also said that if I have a mini Lindy, my prespend will reset and I need to spend $x to meet the criteria for a mini Constance.

My question is, is it usual to have these kind of direct prespend conversations in North America? And is it true that prespend for a mini Constance resets if I accept a mini Lindy?

I felt very awkward when having that conversation as I wasn’t expecting it and she asked me to make a decision on the spot. She also has never offered me any bags over the past ~year. I am located in Canada.

Thanks!
This type of directness is highly unusual in the US. However, having shopped in both the US and Canada, I find SA's to be much more direct and transitional than in the US. While specific numbers might not be given, it's not uncommon for an SA to say "if you buy this jacket, I know a bag will come soon".

No numbers were mentioned. He mentioned this last month and only in reference to a MK. We’ve discussed other QBs and in fact, when I brought up a K25 he said that would be easier and could happen sooner than later with no mention of spend.

I would sign up for one of those services if you can keep a computer open the whole day on your email/site when you get notifications for the mini Lindy.

For the Constance, I would focus on getting K/B quota first and then trying that after before end of year.

I would be the happiest with SA that tells me what to buy and how much I need to spend, like in China. Then I can see if worth buying that particular bag in store or resale.

I love other products, I will keep buying them, but I want my prespend to be considered for the bags I would want the most.

💯
While I could track my spending, I intentionally do not and would hate to have my SA share it with me even though I'm well aware that they track it.

I do wonder, based on so many posts across the forum, whether an SA is more likely to be explicit about 'spend' (at least in the US) if they think that a client is really only interested in a bag, so called quota or otherwise. If a client is clearly enchanted by a wide range of metiers, they are likely to spend sufficiently and thus be offered a bag without being encouraged/exhorted to spend more in order to get said bag.
