Spend threshold for B/K/C

Eventually not getting a bag for so long increases your priority.
someone who has been shopping for a while at a low/med level without a bag offer will be favored over someone who is new and has spent the same in a short period, and over someone who has spent the same and already gotten a qb this year. Its probably still going to be 3-5x but over two years instead of 6 months.
I think this is the best recommendation/strategy to eventually get a bag at your home store if you shop at a low/med pace/level!

Well, not everyone thinks this way in Europe. Hermes IS a European company. ;)
I am French living in another European country and I can tell that resell market is nowhere closer to what is happening in US or Asia !
It exists but the price are not the same and back to H game, I never ever (and neither my friend nor family) have had to spend a lot of money to get a bag …

I have been extremely lucky in Paris so I dont speak for myself but for all the stories I read on this forum, it seems that currently it’s more difficult to get a QB without pre spend !

If you think a QB should be a reward for good spenders it’s your opinion and I respect that, it’s just not mine ☺️

That wasn’t my point. It was a joke. Hermes is a European company. Staffed, I suspect, by a few Europeans. Who clearly think that spend to get is the way to go. Ergo, not all Europeans think the same way.

At the end of the day, we can all say pre-spend shouldn’t happen but it doesn’t matter. As someone else said, Hermes gets to make the rules and this seems to be working very well for them.

I’m an Asian who has lived in Europe for 6.5 years and can attest to the fact that the EU wishlist system is not uniformly applied across Europe.

Especially for coveted QB sizes/SO, prespend is excepted. This is certainly the case in Paris. We’ve heard cases of people experiencing the “Hermes magic” but that’s certainly far and few in between these days. For more context, I have a regular SA in Paris and I speak broken french (I’m sure my rudimentary French is not what scored me the SA).

IMO, its not so much of having to spend a fortune to get a QB but more of having a profile that Hermes wants - a client who is able to spend across different categories and has longevity with Hermes.

@CherryBomb2305 you’re really lucky to have scored your QBs in FR and Switzerland with little prespend. And you’re certainly entitled to have the opinion that pre-spend shouldn’t happen. May the Hermes Gods continue to shine on you.

Having lived and shopped (with Hermes and other French brands) in Europe, I am inclined to agree, especially the latter point, based on my own personal experiences.

Just my 2cents .. I think there has been more of a shift to quick high spenders getting a QB to a more steady spender regular across all brands .. I think h has become more mindful of the brands QB being obtained for reselling and this gives a dilution of the exclusivness of h's QB. This has other benefits to maintaining QB handbags status etc

Do they still give occasional no prespend qb sell .. yes .. to still try and get new meat coming in to spend to try their luck lol..you gotta have new customers with hope as the older customers will eventually run out of stuff you buy

I see that they wildcard/ mix it up slightly....this is to most likely to hide brand strategy but we the public knows this

The point I see is that the mainstay thought is this

With little sprinkles of no / little prespend but these peeps usually get bigger bags less sought after qb.

Unless you are famous or super spender like 100000 k in 1 go .. as these people will be free publicity and promote exclusivity of the brand.

Is it fair .. no .. but that is brand protection .this is a social media world . that is why we want the QB because they are trying to maintain the exclusiveness and achieving it ...their profits prove this ..

If you think it's unfair.. that's Hermes ..they are a brand strategy conisouir lol

Do you mean a hundred million or 100,000? Because 100K is not a super spender at Hermès.

Did she get a bag with that??
lol! I was too ashamed about my nosiness to continue following the conversation. I was checking out when she asked for the price of the FJ and when they said $93,500, she said OK. Everything had to be translated. My jaw hit the ground as they lined up behind me to pay. I did not see the SA going to the back to get anything else. BH is rough!

Lol 100k in 1 spend I meant and I drastically underestimated that then ..🤪🙃 .. ill get my non Hermes coat and leave😭
It depends where you are, but in a competitive store there will be many customers who spend six figures in a visit. (This is not a group of which I am a part 🤣.) I see people drop this much and more quite often in BH, Madison, and all three Paris stores.

This is exactly why I no longer shop at BH! I can not compete with that!

You are so right. This is why I am thinking of changing my home store from BH to Topanga:annoyed: Not sure if this location is competitive, but I am sad to loose my wonderful SA:sad:

A lot of ppl from BH have left and moved to Topanga. I don’t think it’s as competitive as BH and I know they’re happy to take clients from BH. I know multiple people who’ve left BH for Topanga and are very happy.
