Curious about this! I would LOVE to text my SA and chat about random stuff, I click well with her! However I don't want to bother her on work channels/make her job harder/ cross any boundaries. But it would be great if I could, as part of me wishes we could be irl friends!
While I'm in the store we chat about a variety of topics but over text/email I try to be respectful of my SA's time and limit unnecessary context switching, especially right now given the amount of pandemic re-opening demand flooding into stores (and their email/text inboxes). They are incredibly busy and backed up.

same here. my SA and I do chat about random topics and life events in texts, but I usually let her take the lead on those conversations.

I just want to share my own experience. I started the H journey about 7-8 years ago, and didn't have a fix SA at the time. To this day, I still regret not getting the iris Evelyne pm that was recommended by the SA, and it was only $2400 CAD. Fast forward a couple of years later, I met this incredible SA who just started at Hermes but I recognized her from before as she worked in other brand boutique. I would say we hit it off right away. I mostly purchased leather jewellery and maybe a couple of scarf here and there, and maybe a couple of belts for my husband. I would say my purchase history is no where near some of you mentioned here. I got a K40 and K32, two B35 and few other bags during the 3 years with her. I remember when she offered me the B35 with GHW, I had doubt cos' I really wanted purple tone birkin. She said I would regret if I didn't get it cos' it's the hardest bag to get at the time (keep in mind this was around 2017 and mini bag was not a thing). She was really honest and upfront with me and I was the same letting her know what I wanted.

Unfortunately she left Hermes and went to a different profession, and I haven't stepped in that store for about 2 years. I just lost interest in Hermes cos' I don't use my bags enough. I felt it was a waste of money. I also knew with my purchase history, there was no way I could get the bags I wanted. So I got a few bags from reseller instead. Then 2 years ago, I wanted a black roulis. I got connected to another lady who has been at that store for ages, and I mean ages. We kind of knew each other cos' she always said hi to me when I went to the store. I was upfront with her and told her I wanted a black roulis. She basically told me that I got really lucky with all the bags I got from my former SA, cos' I wouldn't have with anyone else. I need to buy other things to create a history if I want to get a black roulis. I was quite offended but at the same time kind of agreed with her. I am to the point where I am happy with my bag collection. I will be happy if I can add the roulis to my collection, but ok if I didn't. To be fair, I haven't bought anything from her. But she recommended the halzan 31 to me. I never like that bag. But once I tried in on, I fell in love especially the gold color. I am glad I bought that bag cos' I wear cross body bag 99% of the time.

I think it's important to work with a SA who can really connect with you. If you want to start a purchase history, only buy what you will use. I think their jewellery collection is a good way to start. I wish I had bought gold jewellery at the time instead of leather jewellery. There isn't a number on how much you spend in order to get a b/k, and I think sometimes depends on your luck too.

No. What really matters is if your like this SA and think you can work with them.

You are not the first to wonder if somehow newer vs experienced SA makes a difference and that really is not the biggest factor. See here for someone else answering a similar question and explaining why. More experienced SA may have more sales and can get more bags but that’s because they already have a group of established long-term clients with them, and they have to take care of their existing clients. A newer SA may have less sales or power at the store but they are more likely to put you higher in their list as they are new and just starting to build their list. It more or less works out. We also sometimes hear that the biggest sales don’t even want to / care to take on many new clients because they are already busy with existing ones. Also, sometimes the SM (manager who in many places have the final say on allocating bags after SAs propose bag offers) will even help out a new SA by giving more bags to them so they can quickly establish a group of loyal clients for themselves.

In the end IMO what really matters is if you connect with your SA. Did you like the SA that helped you and enjoyed your experience shopping with them? If so I’d stick with them for a bit and see how things go.
I was wondering about this the other day and thank you so much for your input on this!!

I only have a Kelly and Evelyn bought from resellers. I’ve read here that the typical “rule” is you spend at least the amount of a quota bag on other Hermes products like scarves, blankets, other leather products before you are offered a bag. After that, I’ve read that you can buy two quota bags a year.

To do so, do you still have to buy lots of non quota bag / Hermes items? I’m not the interested in their home products etc.

Thank you for any insight!

In H, there is no single formula. One thing is for sure though..your SA should like you well enough to search for and fight for the items that you like and request for. Of course showing loyalty and spending money helps a lot!

Thank you both! It seems that the first “offer” may or may not be what you are looking for (though they seem to try).

After the first offer, are you able to request specific bags, e.g. K28 etain, and are allowed to get two a year for those quota bags? I understand that some bags like K25 etc are very HTF and reserved for VVIPs.

To maintain the relationship, I’m reading in the other linked thread that people often visit or get in touch every few weeks. Presumably they buy something every few weeks too? Otherwise I guess their SA may stop looking for their quota bags for them?

You can always request any bag you want but it doesn’t mean you are going to get it. They have far fewer bags made than the number of people who want to buy them so nothing is ever guaranteed. Be prepared to spend upwards of $10k before each quota bag purchase to be in serious contention. Some spend more and some spend less (and it’s not a triggering event, ie it’s not “I spent X so now they will offer me Y automatically”) but more of a guideline for where to start setting your expectations. Good luck!

To make things more complicated, it depends on your location, the SA and her/his position in the company and your relationship.

It's the 'how long is a piece of string?' theory/question.

At some point something has to give. In the last 4 years I've scored 2 Constance, 2 Kelly pouchettes, 5 birkins, 3 Kelly's and. 2 special orders. I'm overwhelmed. I can't keep adding new bags especially since there is no where to go in this pandemic. No one is ever on an unending spending spree. How many birkins does a girl need really?

Could you share how you managed these feats? Especially on Kelly pouchettes and special orders. U must be an amazing customer!

We (my fiance and I) are fairly new to the H world as well. We started this journey about 2 months ago after doing a bunch of research and felt that we are ready. Our local boutique is San Francisco and have been visiting that one every time. We also got very lucky to be paired with an awesome SA who has been there for many many years. I'd imagine she must have a very long list of clients as she is always booked back to back and have watched some of her clients "grow up" literally.. But she still tends to all our requests and will always offer to order or transfer an item in for us if not available in store.

As of today, we've spent around 7.5k up until our last visit. We have been very strategic about this journey lol (or tries to be) and bought mostly home decor, jewelry, shoes, belts etc. as our ultimate goal is to get offered Birkins and Kellys. Thankfully, my fiance is very much in love with their home decor stuff and I think he's probably more knowledgeable about H products than I am  so we are truly enjoying this journey buying items we both love. During our last visit (probably our 4th), we finally dropped the question and asked our SA how to proceed if we'd like a B or K. My fiance was advised to come see her some time soon with my wish list and then make another appointment with her for the both of us to come visit the store and she might have something special for me. OMG! Now, I dont want to read too much into this because I dont want to get my hopes up. But from everyone else's experience, can anyone let me know if this is actually a good sign? Or will she just offer me a C, Evelyne or Lindy etc?

Thanks for reading!
